Guys, just look at that video. It's fantastic.

But its also extreme, bordering on ridiculous. They are talking about building a city from scratch. In today's economic climate, you just can not do that.

The tower looks marvelous, but it will never be built. And if it is, it certainly won't be a kilometre tall, and surrounded by a brand new city of scrapers and ultra modern infrastructure.

Think about it for a while, guys.

A city is already being built from scratch in Dubai, and a 800 meter tower is already being surrounded by scrapers....

Why can't Kuwait do the same, or did you miss the boat?

You are correct, but this masterplan is on a completely different scale to Dubai - the main tower dwarfs the Burj Dubai, and the rest of the proposals are far more ambitious.

Dubai's money is coming from oil and growing tourism. Where is Kuwait's money coming from?

Dubai is actually getting it's money from foreign investors, especially from Saudi and Kuwaiti investors.

And you said something about today's economy ...

Only a very little part of Dubai's income comes from oil. On the other hand, petroleum accounts for nearly half of Kuwait's GDP and Kuwait has 10% of world reserves of oil.

I really think skyscrapers are getting too tall, and it's getting to the point where the designs aren't even anything great and they're huge and ugly.

In the case of this tower... Kuwaits money is coming from dubai. read what you will as to what this means as to the eventual size.

Some said that when scrapers reached 20 stories. I'm glad we didn't listen back then, and I hope we don't listen now.

This happened in a short phase 30 years ago (WTC,Sears Tower). The WTB`s now are by far greater (Petronas Towers, Burj Dubai).
