I completely agree with you on that. The supertalls of today are not just huge blocks of concrete

Heh, that's like the worst statement you can make on a forum about skyscrapers. We all like to build and dream big on this forum.

I love skyscrapers, but I'm just getting bored with these tired, dull designs that are being slopped together. If you're going to build a world's tallest, build something beautiful.

I hate Taipei 101, but at least they did something risky and weird. Not that I like weird.

Incredible height! Do you think it will get built?

This race for the world's tallest is becoming increasingly tedious.

That really puts it in perspective because I was in Chicago a few months ago and thought that the Sears Tower was really tall. It's funny to see the Sears Tower look "short."I really want to see this Kuwait tower built. I hope it's not another bullshit idea that won't come to life.

I don't see how Burj Dubai or this Kuwait tower is dull. There isn't a building that looks like either of these towers in existence. All the worlds tallest towers look distinctively different.

oh yes build this monster!!! a little competition is healthy...and anyway, since Dubai started it, why can't Kuwait do a catch-up? i have somehow expected something like this since Burj Dubai was announced...a new era has come...welcome to the future!!!!!

I think this Kuwaiti idea is bullshit...... it won't be built! Why on earth build something that risky and expensive in a state that has nowhere near the population growth, business and economic support to maintain and inhabit such a building. This idea must come from someone with a mega-inferiority complex towards the UAE (probably someone with a small *****!).

What's next? ..... a 1,500m tower in Kongo to house 1m people?

Have you ever been to Kuwait? If you have then you would know that Kuwait used to always have the tallest structures in the G.C.C. until Dubai came along. Kuwait built a tower which was 185m in 1979. That was long before Dubai's tallest structure.

If your going to talk about a country being sparsley populated then you won't find one less sparsley populated than the U.A.E. but they seemed to be able to fill up their towers?!

Furthermore I talked earlier about the increase in population of Kuwait but I'm not going to repeat that again.

As far as im concerned, I think this should get built. Regardless of whether or not its gonna be taller than BD. I think its great for the whole M.E. region, which is collectively becoming one of the fastest growing economies ever.

"Dull" doesn't necessarily mean that it looks like every other tower. I'm saying it looks BORING.

^boring compared to the dynamic revolutionary design of say the old WTC or maybe 1 canada square in canary wharf. Nothing truly captures the minds and hearts of the people better than a perfect cuboid.

it will of course never be built but at least it served its role as a media-hype-maker for kuwair, silly that skyscrapercity plays along with these media stunts.
