Don't see it happening!!

If I'm not mistaken, I thought the city of Japan was located in one of the world's most seismic locations. Personally, I dont see they need to build at such a great height unless the building is going to be 100% earthquake proof!!

Yeah, it's located in the middle of an earthquake prone area.

with today's technology, it's actually possible to build even up to 3 km tall with all circumstances already in consideration...i've read it somewhere...

I guess cranes wouldn't reach that high. Maybe other technological machines are available though.

And what happened to the megacity pyramid project which i saw on discovery? It supposed to be built in the gulf of Tokyo and about 2000 m high.... In the film it sounded like a real thing

I don't believe it. There are earthquakes, and a 1km tall tower is a goddam challenge even for the best building entreprises not to mention the insane pressure you'll need to send water up there.

saw this on the discovery channel... there actually research on going for this project.. the seismic conditions will be resolved by placing a counterweight on top of the tower, similar to the giant ball on top of taipei 101, (which is also built near a seismic fault...) each platform will have its own park and skygarden, manmade lakes for water consumption... worlds fastest double decker elevators are in research and development and will be used for this project... almost everything in this project are in research and development because the technology is not available at present time... i think this is possible... with enough funds and scientific research... this will be the greatest construction feat in history...

Heavy-lift helicopters are a viable possibility for 1km+ mega-projects like this one.

And BTW id rather be a km high during an earthquake than in a 40meter building built in 1958 in Tokyo.

or use the new generation of clamp cranes. They can be fixed on each floor as you build up.

something like this....

and we can build as high as we want!

There is no single thread, no single post about this tower in Japan forum.
dosen't this show the possibility of this project ?

Once, the site was one of the candidates of New Tokyo Tower project and lost the race.
This only seems to be a recurrence of that proposal.
(height increased, but without appropriate background as broadcasting use)
So, I think nothing will happen about this.

By the way, it's announced an approval for New Tokyo Tower is on late of this month.
Probably 500m+ or more...
