The Eiffel. No other single building in the world can represent an entire city on its own the way the Eiffel does for Paris.

While I've been to Paris, I haven't made it (yet) to Tokyo - so I can only go by the photos. Based on the photo above, I gotta admit that in the dark, with the lights turned on and from that angle, the tower looks good. But otherwise in the harsh light of day, the tower really has this utilitarian look that makes any comparision to the Eiffel Tower ludicrous at best.

My two cents . . .

meh, I've always hated the Eiffel Tower, most overrated building of all time... I hate both of them, actually.

Sorry to be harsh, but the Toyko Tower looks like nothing more than a souped up television antenna. The Eiffel Tower, on the contrary, is an architectural masterpiece and a marvel of structural engineering.

The Eiffel Tower, without question.

The only truly secure system is one that is powered off, cast in a block of concrete and sealed in a lead-lined room with armed guards - and even then I have my doubts. Gene Spafford.

At any moment I expect to see some guy in a monster rubber suit to show up and kick down the Tokyo Tower and then Ultraman showing up to kick it's butt out.

Eiffel Tower for me.

Eiffel Tower. I thought they were exactly the same. I didn't realize the coloring was different. What's at the base of the Tokyo Tower? The angle is even different. I didn't know it's taller too!

Obviously most of you will vote for the Eiffel because it was first and all of that, but just because the Tokyo tv tower is based on the Eiffel tower doesn't make it any less of a great tower... It has stood up against earthquakes, weighs only slightly over half as much as Eiffel, the incredible view, is taller and still looks pretty futuristic in Tokyo's skyline.

Overall I find both unique in their own way..

Nope, the special observatory of the TT is at the height of 250m while the Eiffel tower's 3rd floor is at the height of 276m.

Yep TT is taller period. Who said anything about the observatory? And the view is way more incredible, only there you can see Mt. Fuji and the immensity of Tokyo..

Tokyo tower looks horrible with the red & white striping. Eiffel is the Icon on any city.
