Liberty Towers

The rendering just came out for Liberty Towers (part of Liberty Village). If anyone can tell me how to post pics I can put it up. It's still not posted on the website.

I really like the look. It's architecturally different from anything I have seen built in Toronto at least. About 25 stories, 'Toronto' style tower. Looks alot like Zip (Battery Park) except the whole facade is made of blue/gray glass instead of brick.

Thanks!

First you have to upload the picture onto a picture hosting website (if you haven't done do already). Some examples are www.photobucket.com and www.imageshack.com they should all work the same.

Then once you've uploaded the pic, get the image URL, Photobucket provides it or if it doesn't, *right click*, properties, copy the image address/url. Then use the [IMG] url [/IMG] tags around the image url and voila.

I recommend http://www.flickr.com/ as they encourage hotlinking. It's run by yahoo so you can just sign-in with your yahoo ID.

all we need is a painting on the back that looks like a wall but is slowly falling down like drapes... and we'll have perfect symmetry of the downtown core.

Wasn't Regent Park a planned community? That's what this is right?

Thanks Travis, looks like you beat me to the rendering. The one I had was about the same but the colour was more of a greyish-blue. Went to the sales office today and it show that there is supposed to be a second building built with this as well.

Valentino, what makes you think this won't be built?

Regan, no this is'nt Regent Park. It's Liberty Village. It's in the King/Strachan area. However it is also a planned community

Cool renders.. Hate the name though... Reminds me of 'Freedom Towers' or other crappy reminders that America is free.

I would normally hate the name myself, but it comes from the street name which is "East Liberty Street" and the whole area has been called Liberty Village far before this redevelopment. The marketing team simply jumped on the bandwagon and advertised it this way.

Mike in TO, on UT:

Quote:
Some info:

The project is by the CanAlfa Group and is located at 59 East Liberty Street.

The will be 256 units in 24 stories with a 4-storey podium. Units are generally larger than those of other nearby condo projects - half of the units are over 900 square feet. The building is designed by Hancock Bruckner Engineering and Wright Architects.

In another rendering I saw it is a fairly boxy grey reflective building primarily of glass with a curved mechanical box up top similar to the old Bay Adelaide Centre (but on a much smaller scale).

There will be a second phase connected to the first building by a 4-storey podium containing shared amenities.

Liberty Tower is the first of ten 20 - 33 storey buildings that will be built on the 45-acre former Inglis site. These building will total over 2,000 units.

"Valentino, what makes you think this won't be built?"

The rendering of the masterplan previously posted above won't be built

Its name comes from its Liberty Street address. This area had numerous factories that produced weapons and other supplies for both World Wars. That might have something to do with the Liberty name.

Liberty Tower is the first of 4 high-rise residential towers to be built in the Liberty Village development in the King Street/Strachan Avenue area west of downtown Toronto. With a building area of 301,781 sq.ft., Liberty Tower will include 276 luxury units and represent a cornerstone of the residential intensification underway in the 45-acre urban neighbourhood. Construction is slated to begin in 2006.

"or other crappy reminders that America is free. "

So true hahaha.... as if the world doesn't already recognize their 'freedom' and 'liberty' etc...

Your comment gave me a little chuckle-de-doo.

Anyways, the building looks good... sorta different in a typical glass condo kind of way.

I like the look of this one... nice and sleek, but quite sculptural. Well done.
