Thats another way of looking at it. For example, I suppose hotels in Las Vegas that cost nearly $2bn to construct can be classified as 6 - 7 star hotels, although there is no such thing.

The 6 - 7 star hotel term was created by Dubai, for Dubai. However, you gotta love Burj Al Arab, and the Emirates Palace, they are gorgeous hotels.

sure it was invented by dubai. but there are hotels in the world that are definitely deserving of a 6* rating. i have been to some pretty awful 5* hotels. well they werent awful, but they werent good enough to be classified in the same league as say, the peninsula or raffles.

i just really think the current star rating is so inappropriate since it gives too much credit to bad hotels, and not enough credit to good hotels.

Are all towers approved?

theres another update over here...thnxz to hoody

Concept proposals for a 3 million sq ft (278,700 sq m) mixed-use development in central Islamabad have been unveiled by Atkins. The centrepiece of the mixed-use scheme, commissioned by Pak Gulf Ltd will include the country’s tallest building, a 30-storey, 350-bedroom world-class hotel topped by a panoramic restaurant capturing views of both the city and the mountainous skyline above it. The design also incorporates a 300,000 sq ft (27,870 sq m) shopping mall, 250,000 sq ft (23,225 sq m) of offices and more than 300 apartments. The project is expected to take three years to complete, with the next stage seeing Atkins’ team working on the schematic and detailed design to enable the construction process to start in 2006.

30 floors

But their claim of being the tallest building is not exactly accurate.

I think its 30F plus the point structure bit on top which is about as long as 1/2 of the total tower. So I would say that with the bit on top it should be around 50F if not more.
