NET's extension will more than double the size of Nottingham's tram network by the end of 2014. Passengers will benefit from 17.5km of new track and 28 new tram stops, easing access to many of the area's largest employers.

Construction work is being undertaken by Taylor Woodrow and Alstom, a joint venture on behalf of Tramlink Nottingham; the NET concession holder appointed by Nottingham City Council.

When NET's expansion is complete the tram network will consist of 51 tram stops, with the two new lines linking directly to Line One at Nottingham Station. The expanded tram network will visit 7 park and ride sites, providing service to approximately 23 million passengers a year.

You'll have the best looking trams in the UK, that's for sure.

It's positive to see a city like Nottingham with an expanding tram system, when cities like Birmingham and Glasgow can't seem to build anything but BRT lines.

Birmingham is expanding its light rail south from Snow Hill to New Street, but this is not quite as big as the NET south extension.

Blackpool's flexity2 trams are much nicer.

Loving the pictures, but there's maybe too many construction pics on here. Took forever to load the thread!

Maybe try to break them into more posts so that they get spread out over more pages?
