That's 55 Old Broad Street, also known as Broad Street House.

There were rumours of something huge to replace it back in 2002, but nothing ever happened.

sometimes, although i doubt anyone but me asked the developer, i doubt anyone but me will confirm new properly, i doubt anyone but me will get high quality renderings of it and i doubt anyone but me will secure an interview.
its more that this site provides good things to write about and saves us having to watch every press release for something suitable as thousands of people on here are doing it for us, then people go "oooh on skyscrapers news it says so and so..."

Southwark Council’s planning department has received a planning application from Sellar Property Group to amend its New London Bridge House scheme.

Known as ‘the Shard’s little sister’, the development was granted planning permission in 2006.

John East, head of planning and transport at the council said, ‘We are expecting to determine the application shortly, and believe that it successfully develops the ideas put forward in the earlier approved scheme.’

The application is here- only seems to be minor changes but doesn't really specify what.

Which New New London Bridge House height do you prefer, 88m or 74m? Because wjfox2002 said that there are 2 proposals of this tower with different heights at the London Projects Summary.

New design for "Baby Shard" gets green light

Thursday 5 July 2007
London SE1 website team

A new design for the so-called "Baby Shard" or "Gem" development in London Bridge Street was this week approved by Southwark's planning committee.

An earlier design was approved by Southwark in April 2006 but the committee was told that the Renzo Piano Building Workshop had initiated a redesign of the scheme.

Please could you quote a small section and link to the full article, rather than
copying and pasting with no attribution?

Thanks,

So they've dropped the curved roof and just made it a box?

Seems a pretty radical redesign to me!

"Baby Shard" as a name was always too trite, but "The Gem" is no better!

Surely the SSC forumers can help out here with a better name?
