FAQ: The red things on The Shard are the blind boxes. The blinds themselves are grey.

The Shard's observation deck opens in Feb 2013: http://the-shard.com/the-view-from-the-shard

Yes the top is finished and will remain open to the elements. The exterior is (pretty much) complete.

Just look at it like a bigger version the 'the backpack'. Because that's pretty much what it is. It's going to balance out the Shard and also help settle it in. No one should have reservations with this build.

Looking at No Expert's photo's I was struck by this gem.
Anyone know anything about the history of this little shop? I do hope the facade gets a clean as part of the overhaul of the area.

The complexity of this building structure, needed to avoid half a dozen columns at ground level and cantilever, is quite awesome.
The pity is that very few people will realise or even appreciate it when is finished.

There certainly isnīt any value engineering involved here.

It is similar to the last 20 floors of the shard: the developer doesīt get any profit from such complex and expensive structure; it is like a present to the city.

Why doenīt anybody mention these things?
