The Duke is next to Bell Lightbox, not Shangri-La.

And it was a great pub. RIP. But the building itself is gonna be saved I heard. Supposedly they're gonna move it up the block so it sits beside the other fine looking pub on the corner of Adelaide and John.

OMG you are absolutely right! I think one of the most handsome pubs downtown is one of the Fox and Fiddles in an old mid 19th century brick building. I cannot remember the exact location, but I am wondering if that is the Adelaide and John location you mentioned.

I wasn't aware it was going to be moved even! But that's good news it won't really fit in afterwords.

Hopefully it becomes a pub again one day.

The Fox and Fiddle is the pub that is going to be moved. Next to the Daniels office.

Now I am totally confused.. the Fox and Fiddle, at John and Adelaide is going to be moved? Where to? It is a fairly important historical building.

You're right, my bad. It is the Fox and the Fiddle (corner of John and Adelaide) that's going to be moved, not the old Duke. They're clearing up the corner for a condo. Although who knows how long that could take.

Wonder where it will be moved to.... and wondering if maybe the move might be put off a bit now under current economic conditions.

Next to the old pub on the same block that now houses the Daniels office. Duke of Argyle?

Oh! I see.. and the building where the Daniel's office is will be kept and restored, too?
Thanks for the info

Today at the Shangri-la site:

a foreman on the site assured me the old Bishop's Block was tucked safely away
in storage and would be faithfully restored brick by brick. Pics I took in 2007 before they dismantled the
Bishop's Block:

Further to the moving of the Fox and Fiddle above (and apologies if this is a bit off topic, but it clears up what we discussed):

the Fox and Fiddle building is not as old as I thought, and dates from the 1880's.

They have dug into the hard bedrock where shoring is not needed.

The question mark should read U/C. Not really an unknown now lol. I've fixed it.

I'm glad to see a bit of progress, the Location of this building, along with its height will do a great job of balancing the BMO building when looking at the area from the south/north, it's quite an important part of the future skyline in my opinion.

It is a HUGE project, and still relatively fresh, so I don't think it is taking too long. Look how long Spire took from conceptualization to completion, and this is a much bigger more
complex tower.

It's because the pit is huge. Once that bottoms out, it's all skyward from there. Should be ground level by mid-end of summer i'm predicting
