Because we supply the restoration company I cannot say if the shutters will be replaced or not at this time.

Our process to replicate the mouldings is to take a physical sample, scan it into our 3d model machine. Then produce CAD drawings. From there we are able to produce a cutter knife to replicate the original moulding to its exact size and shape.

We also did all the wood moulding supply in the Trump Tower, and Ritz Carlton Toronto, as well we have product in 4 Season and Shangri La.

Very interesting, thanks!! You've done a superb job. I sincerely hope they get the shutters on, because a brick Georgian without its shutters looks like a person smiling with three teeth missing!

It seems that perhaps Shangri La and Four Seasons are desperately aiming to open at least partially for the Film Festival. Some of the furnishings have arrived for Shangri La. Now, I realize that it is not as high end or luxe as some of the other hotel chains like Ritz, etc.. but I have to say I'm a bit gobsmacked at how pedestrian their choice so far has been. Looks "meh" to me:

Difficult to say from the pictures. The trend from modern-type furniture in new hotels means that in more 'normal' areas, it's not all Eames chairs or designer furniture. Some of the best hotels in the world will have normal looking furniture in some areas where they need more 'sturdy' furniture (i.e. public dining areas), but if you look closely you'll realize it's not exactly cheap stuff. This is especially true of the new Asian chains which don't use Louis XIII style furniture.

Did they finally wash the windows? Or are those pics just taken at the best possible time?

Likely they are desperately trying to get it open before Film Festival.

I've always wondered why they just don't supply blue or black outward-facing blinds. Why do they always gotta be white? Leave whatever colour on the inside part of the blinds, but change the outward-facing side to a dark colour, to complement the building. This goes for any development, whether hotel, office or even residential.

In a perfect world...

That creates harmony and is important to have it one color on the outside.

when I was living at X condo and wanted to buy curtains, I was told that whatever I buy or get, the outward part should be white. They didn't want the tower look like a Disney Land on the outside.

For me: there is only ONE Shangri-La ... and it is really the Shangri-La feeling to it when you are there

Ofcourse, I meant that, ALL of the blinds would be that same deep blue/black... I was asking why dont the developers eventually supply to blinds to all the rooms?

I mean, a in a condo it would be more difficult since there are many different people and it would be hard to regulate if they keep the dark blinds etc.
But a Hotel??! An Office tower?? It wouldnt be hard to supply to the hotel, or make an agreement that all blinds must be this or this colour.. The developer wouldnt even have to supply it, just give a colour and the hotel would take care of the rest, fitting all rooms with the same outward facing blind colour.

PS, I checked out that site and that Shangri-La is amazing... with even amazing-er views..

Yes, that Shangri-La building was used to be the residence of Roland Napoleon ... now a hotel with one of the best Thai restaurants in Paris.

But off course there are a few more gems, secret ones, like this one there that are worth just walking in and look around or have a coffee/thea that costs you € 90,- for 2 with cakes and such
