I do not know what happened to Saudi Oger or Al-Saif!!

They never get huge projects anymore like complete new town or skycrapers and so on.

thanks for posting the video Riyadhi..

The design is pretty impressive and overall the plan is ambitious...but somehow, maybe because it is still the Jeddah airport, I don't see them pulling it all off. Maybe they'll have all the things they should in terms of buildings, etc but the service will still suck..and it'll be disorganized...

maybe they should have an organization like DNATA and have that run by foreigners with experience in running other key airports around the world...so the local authorities won't be stumped as to how to run such a big airport and complex airport...

also...a couple of other things....why only 3 runways? they should have at least 1 or 2 more...3 runways for 80 million seems too little..but on the bright side..they have enough space to make another one if needed (I think)...

and...did they mention how passengers will go from one of those terminals to another? I don't think i saw that in the video....I'm assuming they'll have some sort of LRT or something....any know anything about that?

There was no mean of transportation between terminals, at least when I was there last time. The guy in the reception had a stupid face when I asked him about that.

i did again...what exactly are they saying other than the whole "one-roof" thing which doesn't help when the airport is this big/long...you need a people-moving system...like a train service or something. any mention of that?

I agree with gohorns, the main problem is not in the buildings, it's in the people who work there; mainly Saudi Airlines personnel!

maybe they should get those guys who do the public lashings and get them to lash the lazy and arrogant staff at the airports that decide to have a little chat with another staff or leaves on a 15 minute coffee break when there are 60-70 people in line (at this counter) waiting for 3 hours to get through...

maybe that'll get them to straighten up

after posting this I had an even better idea...how about letting the people who were made to wait unreasonably long times (let's say 3 hours) lash the customs guy? hehe...how I'd love to crack a whip and make that smirk disappear from those people's faces...just one should do it..

Overall the design is not bad and they have expansion flexibility in the future.
Are they going to have 3 terminals as shown in the clip and we will not have the current Northern and Southern terminals?

I came to Jeddah from Abu Dhabi last night on an Etihad Airwasy flight. There was some renovation work going on in the terminal building being carried out by Saudi Bin Laden group. There were charts and pics hanging all over the terminal showing what they were carrying out. Basically, what i saw was that they have added new departure gates and are also going to renovate the check-in lounge. I think it's a temperory solution.
