I find fascinating the big difference between these two cathedrals, Maribor, that´s the centraleuropean style and Koper, the typical Italian. Slovenia is on the border of two big architectonical tradicions, isnt´it?

True. Slovene lands were strongly influenced by Austro-Hungarian (northern-western ones) as also by Italian - the coast and its hinterland. There really are big differences in architecture between Maribor and Koper, Celje and Piran, etc.

There was also Plečnik in the first half of the 20th centruy, whose architectural works were inspired by mediterranean/roman arch...

Exeter Cathedral

Exeter Cathedral, begun c1180, largely rebuilt and completed between 1280 and 1350.

No-one mentions it because hardly anyone has heard of it, but it's got one of the finest Gothic interiors in Europe, the longest unbroken stretch of medieval Gothic vaulting in the world, the earliest complete surviving set of medieval misericords in the UK, a unique arrangement of transeptal towers (the towers date to c1180), and the Bishop's Throne is one of the largest, finest pieces of medieval wood carving in existence. Overall, it's the best example of a Decorated Gothic church in Britain. It's a small cathedral compared with many but it is perfect, especially the interior.

C'est ça l'Europe ! C'est quand même beaucoup mieux que la Commission Européenne et tous ses règlements.
