Tokyo's got the Shinkanzens, futuristic buildings, video arcades, animated neons, computers and vibrancy!

I'll agree that Tokyo deserves the most futuristic

Tokyo fits neatly into the coruscant or blade runner sci-fi idea of a future city. It has the incedibly densely packed tall and futuristic buildings, video arcades, neon lights, bullet trains and it wouldn't suprise me if it soon has the flying cars and robots walking along the streets.

Tokyo is easily the most futuristic in that sense but personally I hope the future isn't all like that.

It can but Tokyo lack supertalls that Hong Kong has! And Hong Kong is denser than Tokyo though Tokyo is larger in terms of area.

Hong Kong, Dubai, and Shanghai are all pretty superficial compared to Tokyo and Seoul.

My vote: Tokyo

As has already been explained, this thread is about how cities currently are - not including proposed/under construction projects like some of the pics you've posted.

Shanghai

Shanghai IMO is the most futuristic city in the world.

Take for instance the Maglev : you cannot find any other mass transit so futuristc all around the world.
I've been there last year and I was astonished by the Pudong area!!

Shanghai will be the most rapid growing and futuristic
city in the next 20 years.

Best,

Peter

Dubai for sure. Futuristic cities plan for the future with a futuristic vision. That's what futuristic is all about. But all the listed cities are futuristic.
