BTW, I edited my post to add more. Gaisano Mall of Cebu? I'm not sure yet. There aren't any renderings released yet. As Far as I know, the Cebu Boardwalk Mall will be our own rendition of the SM Mall of Asia

I guess @Slerz has posted an u/c pic of it in our 10th thread. It has been u/c since the 90's but is, upto now, on hold due to the Financial Crisis. The latest news article I read about it was a month ago, when Joseph Gaisano (of White Gold) finally dumped the original plan and told that he'll be hiring architects to create a new plan (for the mall, condo and office buildings). The mall is poised to be as big as SM City Cebu.

@sugbuanon, there's also a counstruction of a building @ N Bacalso ave just along the PLDT tower 1 or along the Labangon and N Bacalso intersection and beside of the newly constructed 4 storey Boyscout of the Philippines building.

Cebu needs 15,000 hotel rooms immediately to meet the current demand. Cebu only has 7,000++ rooms available right now. that's how serious the lack of room shortage in Cebu. Local hotels are hitting 85% occupation rate year-round.

By the way, Cebu Doctors University building and Cebu Convention Center (The Megadome) will be ready in Q4 of 2006. No updates yet regarding the Boardwalk Mall project.

Mission of the Cebu Boardwalk

To establish a well-planned, landscaped, and well-maintained community, complete with modern infrastructures, facilities, and amenities



Due consideration shall be given to:

* Ensuring the availability and reliability of the utilities and services, such as electricity, water, wastewater and solid waste disposal, telecommunications, and others.
* Comprehensive traffic planning, provision of the different modes of land transport and the pedestrianization of many areas, and the provision of water shuttles.
* (The project shall designate the appropriate places for bus terminals, jeepney terminals, V-Hire terminals, and taxi stands.)
* Mitigation of noise, water, and air pollution by implementing the proper laws and restrictions and by providing ample greenery and parks.
* Provision of recreational areas and promenades.
* (Environmental relevance is achieved by surrounding the entire area with greenery and natural scenery and by providing for generous open spaces throughout the development, following the Garden City concept of urban planning and design.)

DOT’s endorsement of the Cebu Boardwalk as a tourism estate/tourism zone presages a notable role it shall take on with Cebu’s continuing development as a primary tourism circuit in the Asia-Pacific Region.



Objectives of the Cebu Boardwalk

1 To build infrastructures, facilities, and amenities that are unique and are not found in the whole of the Visayas and Mindanao.

(These include a family-oriented theme park, outdoor amphitheater park that can hold grand concerts and operas, marina promenade, full-service and high-end yacht club, airline city check-in counters, etc.)

2 To invite anchor and mall locators who can aptly address and service the needs of the target market in a novel and avant-garde way.

(These anchors and locators are chosen on account of the prestige and image that they bring to the project and of the stablished patronage of local residents and visitors.)

3 To undertake a program of events and shows that shall rightfully place the Cebu Boardwalk in the entertainment, arts, and culture map of the Philippines.

4 To establish/set-up and sustain the entire area as a tourism zone as envisioned by the Department of Tourism.

Interlink Cordova with the North-South LRT through the tunnel crossing Cebu Harbor.
