My vote goes to Al Burj. The design of the Burj Dubai is not really that impressive, though it's height makes it something special. For me Al Burj has much better architecture, especially the fact that it will be open in the middle. Must be huge when you're standing there...

Well, some of these projects are a long way off especially the biggest ones. Palm deira won't be finished until 2013, the waterfront will probably take until 2020 to be completely ready and then the airport city will take even longer. If this were all built right now it would be a disaster but even though Dubai is a small city population growth there is rapid. It grows by about 100,000 to 150,000 a year and most of these people aren't construction workers. I don't think there's any proof of this but ask any Dubai forumer and they'll tell you about the increase in traffic.

This frenzy will cool down eventually though. Some projects may be redesigned to a more realistic size.

Al Burj is hideous. It can only look halfway decent at night when most of it is covered up.

you are always so negative malec

it is a growth of 200.000 per year, without construction workers

AND i don't think Dubai Waterfront will take until 2020, and i don't think they will scale down any project, they will announce even bigger ones ...

you have to see the vision malec

I prefer the look of Burj Dubai but still Al Burj looks awesome and second best in the world to BD.

For height, if built, Big Al will win.

BTW, is anybody in for referrring Al Burj to BIG AL? Sounds more personal since Burj Dubai has the name Burj in it and Burj al Arab has that as well.

Hey, what's with you Arabs and calling everything Burj? Oops sorry, here in North America we call everything Tower even buildings that don't tower.

Ok then as you were.

Come on Forza, even Big Al isn't like this KRaP at Kaliningrad, Russia.

I don't know what the guy got for designing this pile but if you ask me he ought to have gotten life.

I love both, but my vote will go to Al burj

I especially like that it is in fact a cluster of three towers with a hollow interior.

I don't really like any of the two, but my vote goes to Burj Dubai since Al Burj is hideously looking...
