Name of project: West Tower, Pearl River New City, Guangzhou, China
Height: 432m Number of storeys above ground: 104 Plot space: 31,084.96m2 Total floor space: 448,000m2 Total investments: 750 million USD Date of ground breaking: 26 December 2005 Estimated year of completion: 2009 Functions: offices, hotel, apartments, convention, shopping, sightseeing, culture and entertainment, etc. In the future, an East Tower will be built next to this building. Source of next pic: Information Times Ground breaking ceremony, 26 Dec. 2005 ![]() Rendering: In the old design, the East Tower looks the same as the West Tower. Don't know if the final design of the East Tower will remain unchanged. ![]() Source of next pics: www.skyscrapers.cn BTW, www.skyscrapers.cn is a nice website of skyscrapers, although it's only in Chinese. Check it. 1 ![]() 2 ![]() 3 ![]() 4

Anymore pictures of the building from another angle?
Looks nice and sleek. Seems that the chinese has a preference for non-spire building lately and i hope they keep it that way. |

@10025: try tinypics.com
Will this be built in the current CBD ? ie. near CITIC and the 610m TV tower ? |

I remember this building - there was a design competition for it. The thread was on here a few months ago, I'll have a quick browse for it in a second. I believe one of the forumers works for the company that designed it and might be involved with construction if I remember correctly.
Glad to see something happening with it, I was begining to think it'd never go any further. Found the old threads. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...=249734&page=1 And the older one with all the designs for the competition in. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=238335 Last edited by crazyevildude; December 27th, 2005 at 02:50 PM. |

Are the towers going to be blue or brown? The two renderings are of different colours...

I think it's just reflects the color of the sky, turns browny-gold during the dust and blue in a sunny day..
