HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Donald Trump will join forces with a Hong Kong-based fund and a Chinese real estate developer in offering an anticipated 5 billion yuan ($698.8 million) for rights to develop a landmark commercial office tower in the Southern industrial city of Guangzhou, according to a newspaper report Wednesday. The consortium, which includes Guangzhou-based Evergrande Real Estate Group and Hong Kong's Orient Property Group, will bid for the development rights for the East Tower, part of the Guangzhou Twin Tower development in the Zhujiang New Town financial center, according to report in the English-language-daily South China Morning Post. Bids for the project are expected to be submitted in the April to June period. If successful, the project will represent the Trump organization's first development on the mainland. The site will comprise a tower of 400 (1,312 feet) to 450 meters, resulting in the city's tallest tower upon expected completion in 2013

Why bother calling it "East" Tower, "West" Tower when what I get by reading this thread the two are probably not going to look or be similar to one another.

Interesting news about Trump doing business in China now. Obviously his real estate development business is prime but you know he's eyeing a casino concession in Macau. This is probably his way of getting a foot in the door.

I just did a search with Donald Trump and China. I knew he didn't have kind things to say back in the 80s and 90s about Japan. So I find out in the search that he has made comments about China and how the political and economic environment is not good for doing business there. Ironic that Japan, a polar opposite environment, he still complained there too. What has changed? Now he's doing business in China.
