I think the photos of the skyline are taken from the park on the hill whose name escapes me. Would like to go back when these ridiculously lanky towers are complete.... they look gargantuan!!!
[QUOTE]

those pics were taken from Baiyun Mountain

Does Trump make the Chicago skyline look weird? There are no shiny building around it?

There aren't that many shiny supertalls in the world, I can count them with my hands.

Personally I thought the WTC looked gross, the towers went out of date the day they finished construction. I never liked the design of those towers.

Steel tubes? What's the difference? It's the same problem. They're blocking the most number of windows possible. It's seems like a complete waste. This may have flown in the 70s, but today it's unappealing to office tents, especially after events like 9/11. Why would I want buy space in this tower, the upper floors look like your in a prison. Do you really think beams at an angle like that provide a huge amount of extra strength? I haven't seen this used in the rest of China, or other earthquake prone regions in the world. If one gives way the whole system is useless. It's a chain reaction.

lol, you have no notion my firend. the steel-tubes definitely don't block many windows...and they're definitely no waste of space.

**** me imagine how much light is being blocked in one of these. They must be trapped in there!

as opposed to this kind of dangerous earthquake-prone er, earthquake-proofing:

+1. Seriously, only about 1 out of every 6 windows is blocked, and the light coming in from the adjacent floor-to-ceiling windows is more than enough to make up for the tiny amount of light blocked.

Isn't that Canary Warf, when was that constructed? 1980s?

And 1 out of every 6 windows? Some floors it looks worse than that.

Onn it seems the only buildings you can tolerate are sheer lurid blue glass walls, with no other cladding (or pillars inside). All else fails.

More monstrous lightblocking porn:

positively inky in there

I think its purposely not mirrorlike, so u can see the steel beams through the glass. I think that looks good. And so does the majority on this forum. U dont have to agree.

I wonder when are we going to see the mechanical cladding. That would be a pretty important part of the design... On the model it looked awful and quite damaged the beauty of the building...
