I agree with Chinese Translations. Zhujiang CBD rocks, but I prefer crowded cbds with a lot of pedestrian life such as Chongqing Jiefangbei or Shanghai Jing'an.

You do know trees are a good thing? You will be sorry when they are gone.

Exactly! Without green and open spaces you can't even SEE the skyscrapers, at least in all their beauty.

Chinese Translations is right, I guess he means that too many trees in the wrong place kill density advantages. Let's plant one trillion trees in the countryside, but don't ruin the urban life with too much greenery fetish.

Well I disagree Zorg, beside not being a lover of "density", I believe all other considerations are trivial in face of the need for more trees given by the already lacking quality of the air in megapolises like Guangzhou.

City greenery has nothing to do with pollution, that's a well extended myth. You need so many trees to offset one single car that city trees are mostly irrelevant. Green oceans in the countryside are the key.

gotta agree with z0rg. These few trees beside the road dont make a difference.

I do like that they keep some sort of park in between. But besides that lil park, they should make it all DENSE

Nice updates todd. The base is still nothing. Will there be a base?

nice update. Also, are the small buildings at the base of the tower part of the tower plan? from renders it looks like it belongs to the tower right? Just like KLCC and the Petronas etc?

Helipad really suits this building... Spire wouldn't have been a bad idea.

I love the Guangzou skyline because there are a few towers that are clearly topping out above the rest of the skyline. That's what a skyline needs, a lot of different heights and not one straight line with the same heights what is called density. That's why I love Chicago's skyline way more than NewYork's skyline. Sears tower, Trump tower etc are topping out above the other towers which looks awesome!
skylines definitely need diversity in height, which gz has, but gz's density doesn't hold a candle to chicago's density, and that's the problem..gz is full of extremely wide avenues, sidewalks, and green areas which form too many gaps in the skyline..it's annoying and inefficient..

I'd much rather walk underneath a shaded tree canopy than being exposed to the sun. Density and skylines are all very good, but the streetscape is just as important. And really do we need to emulate the density of NYC or Chicago?

I enjoy looking at skyscrapers, but why is having "too many trees" a problem? Trees are beautiful and help remove pollution from the air.

Too many trees isnt a problem, too many trees is a problem when u want buildings there. IMO they can plant an infinite amount of trees somewhere in the countryside, but in the city, I like a nice, dense skyline.

Now whether it looks good in a city is subjective, but I find it a problem when it takes the place of a supertall.
