Tallest Building-Hilton Alexandria Mark Center; Built-1985; Height-338 feet.

Alexandria is an historic city, founded in the early 1700's. Since the early 1990's, the city has added over 2 million sq. feet of office space. This rapidly growing city has many highrises planned for the near future.

Alexandria's skyline is very spread out, as you can see... I did my best, but you really need to visit, or see it first-hand to be impressed by the large amount of new buildings. The city currently has 71 listed highrises.

It's the George Washington Masonic National Memorial, built in 1932, with a height of 333 feet.

The historic buildings and neighborhoods are much more a strength than tall buildings. I don't like those modern buildings at all -- they're bland and featureless if not outright ugly. In the future, developers of new and tall buildings in Alexandria would do well to study the stately examples already set by the city's historic buildings.
