Some pretty good impressions there, will be starting to look pretty good in a few years. Pity LBT isn't in the main cluster of talls though.

It's full impact and beauty would be lost if it was part of the cluster.

Impressive, most impressive! Limestreet is already u/c, and as far as i know Heron is scheduled to start construction in the summer of 2007. Lets hope bishopsgate gets approval and that minerva and leadenhall get built too.
This vision doesnīt seems so far from reality any more.

Btw, you could add broadgate tower and the kings tower reclad to the render. And isnīt there going to be a new tower next to kings tower.

I don't think so, i think if it were at the centre of the cluster, it would make a nice pinnacle.

It's only a bit taller than the bishopsgate Tower in real life, and if it was moved to the City this would just create two pinnacles.

Believe me, when it is built LBT will be simply stunning and too good to crowd with other skyscrapers. In fact the architect knows this and is working with the developer to demolish the existing towers around it to prove that.

What will the base of LBT, from what i have seen the area is quite run-down. Is it going to be redeveloped? LBT will become an icon similar to the eiffel tower (not as famous though) so is there going to be a park or square at the base?

No, the version shown here is the shorter, redesigned version, i.e. 288m

As I understand it, the train station will get a complete makeover, including a totally new roof, along with MAJOR improvements to the concourse and surrounding area. I doubt there'll be space for a park (!), but the immediate vicinity of the station will certainly look far, far better than it does today. From the renderings I've seen, it will be almost unrecognizable! London Bridge Tower is a major, landmark project that will massively boost the regeneration of the area.

I agree 100% with DarJoLe by the way - it's essential that London Bridge Tower is given space to "stand out" on its own. Crowding it with other surrounding skyscrapers would diminish its impact on the skyline.

The future Skyline of London looks very impressive. I saw a program not too long ago in the public TV channel of my area, about the London Blitz of 1940 and it was really fascinating and may me comprehend the lay out of the city much better. I visited London twenty years ago and I was very surprised about the quantity of modern buildings in the center of the city, but after watching the program, it gave me a better idea of the reasons why London, looks the way it did. I love to return to London in the near future to see many of the things I missed on my last visit and to admire how the new constructions blends with the old city in general. London has so much to offer, however for me it has always been a question of money and costs, that prevents me to visit London and England more often.

Is this true? Can they really get permission to demolish buildings around LBT? The only building that really spoils that area for me is that dammed Guy's Hospital. But I don't think they can demolish that cus it is a listed building or something...typical! If they could just reclad it or something, like the old Stock Exchange building, it might not be so bad, cus at the moment it is just a dull, concrete, ungly looking hulk of crap, and I'm afraid its gonna put a blemish on LBT

Still, London is gonna look top notch for the 2012 olympics!
