Every little helps what? I'd rather have only the most impressive and top-notch skyscrapers built in places where high rise towers work with the skyline, not against it, rather than sticking up anything up simply to push London further up the skyscraper-stakes.

Not for 12 - 15 years.

Edit: They'll let LBT and DIFA soar. After that several other mid - high rises will go up like 150m and 200m with the odd 50m - 100m. Then afterwards they'll be a new super tall.

Quite a good list. Most of these towers are in London, With quite a few in Manchester and Birmingham too.

In 2012:

London: 35 Skycrapers
Manchester: 3 Skycrapers
Birmingham: 2 Skycrapers
Leeds: 2 Skyscrapers
Liverpool: 1 Skycrapers
Newcastle: 1 Skycrapers
Portsmouth: 1 Skycrapers

Of course this is just going by what we know know. New proposals are coming out all the time, by 2012 we can expect dozens of new proposals.
And although it doesnt happen very often here, some towers could be cancelled.

Thats a great list man, I dont think I've seen a full compilation of SS projects for the UK before.

I have to say, I really don't like the Beetham tower, it just looks so bulky and irregular. If you want to have a skyscraper in London, it needs to be of the
highest quality, and Beetham just aint up to it, it looks bland and fairly ugly...to me at least, and I hope they don't go through with it.

BTW, Thanx to those who responded to my 'I hope they build a twin tower project in London' post. I did actually already know about the Riverside South
towers at Canry wharf, but thanx for the great images. I was kinda hoping for more of a Petronas towers kinda thing...not the height exactly, just for the sheer spectacle.

I have been googling canary wharf, and a few websites came up with this design plan for Canary wharf, can someone tell me if this is reality or if it is an outdated project:

There was also this great website that has loads of info on new projects at the London Docklands: http://www.simonward.com/cgi-bin/page.pl?large/dockdev , such as a new wind power site, the Thames Gateway Bridge:

and new railway lines, additional Airport terminals and the New Providence Wharf development, to name but a few of the projects:

Dockland's tallest:

-----Name---------------Height---Floors----Year---- Status

1 One Canada Square------237m----- 50-------1991--- Complete
2 Riverside South Tower 1--230m----- 44------ 2006---Approved
3 HSBC Headquarters------210.3m---- 45-------2001---Complete
4 Citigroup Centre---------210.3m---- 45-------2001---Complete
5 Riverside South Tower 2--210m----- 40-------2006---Approved
6 1 Churchill Place----------165m-----40-------2005--- Under construction
7 North Quay Tower 1------165m----- 44-------2006---Approved
8 North Quay Tower 2------165m----- 44-------2006---Approved
9 Heron Quays 2-----------153m------33-------2006---Under construction
10 Heron Quays 3----------152m------33-------2003--- Under construction
11 Heron Quays 5----------151m------33-------2003--- Under construction
12 Arrowhead Quay-------- 147m------25-------2004---Under construction
13 1 Millharbour------------139m------25-------2005----Approved
14 World Trade Center----- 115m------25-------2003----Approved
15 West India Quay--------111m------32--------2002--- Under construction
16 33 Canada Square-------105m------25-------1999----Complete
17 Heron Quays Project-----101m------27-------2004----Approved
18 Meridan Delta, Tower 1---95m------31--------2004--- Approved
19 Meridan Delta, Tower 2---95m------31--------2004----Approved

Good stuff for Canary Wharf, as it is the world's single largest commerical property development,
containing over 12 million square feet of office space.

Yes, Wood Wharf is proposed and the two towers stand at 140m.
I love that bridge, too. Hope it gets built.

Its a residential twin tower scheme. The developer is London and regional, the same as the new twin scheme at Vauxhall. The architect is Squire and Partners.

Another render i found:

Why is this thread still going, London will not get anything like the towers you lot are having wet dreams over. You all put pictures up of skylines, proposals etc etc, face it London is a flat city and it will always be that way. Just enjoy the city for what it is and stop dreaming of turning it into Manhattan cos it ain't going to happen.
