How would they call it the 'Big Mohammed'

Horrible tower. It wouldn't even fit in a theme park and the height is ridiculous.

Dubai approves way too much towers. 1/5 of them are real beauties but some of them are ugly as as Sugar Lee Hooper.

at least 20% as you say are great, but i do think another 60% are also good, while only 10% are not so and 10% are crappy.

but this is not an issue of approving too many towers...
more towers = more bad designs

On top of that, the render is also very crappy. It mightn't turn out so bad if they jazz it up a bit so they can at least say "it was inspired by big ben"

Brown is the worst colour for buildings IMO since brown buildings usually look depressing. I know it's only one out of loads but still they shouldn't approve this. The location couldn't be more prominant, it's right between "the tower" and capricorn tower.

Agree with dubaiflo though, 20% of the designs are great, about 50% are good, 25% are OK and 5% are really really terrible (basically anything that's ripoff of something else)

we should blame the architects for creating such crappy renders

it's quite common in the united arab emirates to have the shittiest renderings

but then, once a tower is completed it looks so much different, has always been like that

the tower is definitely approved, it's just a matter of design, will they approve this design or do they have to change it
it will be built anyway

lol everyone should do that based on his own taste, there are enough towers to choose from in post 1

also i don't like YOU to do that, the compilation will be 2 best towers (al manara and BD) and 473 worst towers (btw this is the current figure for highrise UC and App in Dubai.

nice picture of dazzling dubai with skyline , found by dubainico.

Well I don't give a crap what you say! I'll post my favourites anyway

Also don't forget Al Sharq, that tower's something else altogether

The Bay Gate and 1 business bay are nice too.
Park Place on SZR will probably turn out amazing
For Dubailand G-tower and the cube are the best, also that park inn one looks pretty good too.
In JLT Almas is my favourite followed closely by anantara towers and the business centres.
Some great ones in the marina too. Al Fattan obviously, infinity, and some of the small ones like the waves are turning out really good.
In general a lot of the smaller buildings in media city and elseware are really well designed. Too bad they're small though so they go unnoticed.
From the proposals too many to list
Al Rafi is great!

BTW, I'm really liking that new one in business bay. "Vision" or something

As for the terrible towers, the eiffel tower ripoff in falcon city is no1, followed by big mohammed ( I love that!!), followed by those chrysler ripoff twins in media city. Also that twin birthday candle ones in media city are quite bad. This is what I can think of now

No affence but this is one of the worst pics i've seen of dubai's skyline, every tower is bumping into each other and there are more towers going up as you can see in the pic. Dont they have any space or something. Its the same thing with dubai marina too. Dubai's skyline is not organised.

Dubai just can't win can it?

People constantly complain about the skyline being too organised, preplanned and looking fake. Now someone is complaining that it is not organised enough.

Most skyscrapers are close together. Because land prices in those areas are very high so noone wants to waste the land with open areas or low rises. This is the same in every city to varrious degrees.

And Dubai_guys.

Big Mohammad is just a joke name for the big ben tower at the top of the page. .

Aswell why build only lowrises when you can build both. A bit of variety is better since some people (like a lot on this forum) would prefer to live in a highrise rather than a villa.

No, I am pretty sure it's in the U.S. because of the type of cars and the license plates.
