Thrissur - Angamali rescheduled estimated completion date
NHAI rescheduled completion date to dec 2009 hope it will finish work soon with 40 Bus Bays and with new fly over at puthukad
![]() I hope After completion of work, Nedumbasery Airport is more benifit for thrissurians than Kochi.. Only 45 Km if use Shortcut through Angamaly inside road Within few years Mundupalam to ambalur byepass 10 km get 4 lane also so it will make easy flow of traffic... Since the road is so board with enough over bridge i don't think it will effect the NH traffic... But I would have rather created a complete overbridge through the bye-pass with openings at important junctions from Amballor to Manutty rather than creating small overbridges at junctions. It helps to keep the NH traffic flow untouched even if the below road has an 100% growth... As Thrissur Byepass is an Ideal one and we should not repeat the mistake of Cochin Byepass.. I rather suggest my opinion. With World class university and Puttur ZOO on one side and City on the other of the Byepass... It looks sure as a future growth area for sure.

I am at Thrissur. Except for road work along the highway nothing much has changed in Thrissur over the past two years. The city roads are pathetic, garbage has not been cleared . I noticed pavement works near the Sakthan Thampuran market on the road going towards East Fort. The whole of Shornur road now has a footpath and is a welcome development. This is very narrow but definitely better than nothing.I have taken a photo of Joys palace and sent it to Sanju. I did go to city centre . It was a bit deserted and the escalator seems to have stopped working . It has been boarded. Hopefully it will start working. It takes one hr 15 minutes to the Aiport . Hopefully in three years time one could reach the Airport in one hrs time. The circle near Big Bazzar is impressive. I havent yet seen the model road . May be that will be a welcome development. Sadly I am echoing the same sentiments expressed by Ravi Menon during his recent visit to Thrissur. The lalur issue is not a new one and has been going on for years . It is sad that the civic officials and the politicians have done nothing to sort out the issue.A biogas plant or a new incinerator is a good idea. There has to be some will power. They have done it in Nagpur and then now in Mangalore. The methane gas is used for electricity and treated water is used for Industries. Last edited by ajay ramchandran; July 29th, 2009 at 09:33 AM. |

Garbage disposal hit again in Thrissur
Thrissur: Garbage disposal problems came to haunt the Thrissur Corporation again on Tuesday as local residents of Lalur, where the city’s garbage yard is located, prevented Kudumbasree workers from dumping waste. Lalur Malineekarana Virudha Samara Samithy chairman T. K. Vasu said that local residents were forced to agitate as the Corporation failed to check disposal of hazardous waste from the city brought in 25-odd vehicles by the Kudumbasree. A ban on dumping biological waste collected by Kudumbasree and Sevanasree workers was one of the six demands by the Samithy while it agreed to stop its agitation last week. “It is a struggle for our right to live. Vehicles of Kudumbasree bring every day loads of biological waste -- from hospitals, laboratories, hotels and households. It causes serious environmental and health problems in the area,” he said. The residents demand control over the amount of waste dumped at Lalur. “It is part of a new urban culture. People who live even in a one-acre compound dump household waste in packets to be taken away by Kudumbasree workers. Local waste management should be enforced. The Corporation should make alternative arrangements to create jobs for Kudumbasree workers,” Mr. Vasu said. Deputy Mayor M. Vijayan, however, refuted these allegations and said that Kudumbasree units had segregated biodegradable and plastic waste before taking it to the dump yard. Meanwhile, there are complaints that measures promised by Corporation to solve the waste disposal crisis in the city are being implemented at a snail’s pace.

No decisions on City Development as been done so far... No Major project have been annouced or discussed... No effort made to continue the old proposed project (like Ring road completion -inner and outer, ST Nagar Modern Market, four laning of approach road towards NH). I don't know why the TUDA is dismissed... ? Can't it be made proper and working... These all are topics which we already discussed.. But I'm feeling bad when ever i think abt this horrible Thrissur Corperation Ruling...
