Favorite change of 2005

Lots of great things have been happening in Mtl in 2005. Investment is booming, people are moving back to the city, economy is growing ... but I find that sometimes the small changes have the most impact. St.James church was boarded up by storefronts that improved streetlife but added nothing else to the neighbourhood. The part of the building in front of the church entrance was demolished and the wings are being refurnished into retail space. I find this looks great.

It was a great move by Tremblay administration to improve this seedy stretch St.Cath. Ever since Sam the Record Man went belly up this area was going downhill. Hopefully this will a first postive step forward.

True that was one of the best changes in Mtl for 2005, I'm sure it will help the area, what Montreal needs is more of this kind of thing.

I would say the extension of the metros, and the extension of the Jewish General Hospital.

An important change, though it is not yet completed, is the demolition of the hideous échangeur des Pins....

Mais il faudra voir le résultat.

Definately the reopening fo the facade of St James is a tremendously good change, getting rid of the Pine Park interchange will be good too, though not so visually dramatic.

it will be blackcat, because from southern parc, we'll be able to see the greenery and not concrete.

the renewal of the PVM 5 tower... wow, its really good looking... if that could be done to many other towers, I would be very happy.

^ I found that it only took PVM 5 from the 60s to 80s. Improvement, but not a huge one.

Do you guys know if there is anything happening on the site? The road is narrowed to one lane and underpass is closed off but have not seen any workers or machines?

seriously, glass is way better than concrete.

It'll be at least "invisible" in the sense that it'll reflect its surrounding more than make it uglier.

MY favorite Changes for 2005 are in order...

1. Opening up of St-James Church on Ste-Cath
2. Added density brought to de Maisonneuve by the construction of the lépines and the ROC Fleuri.
3. The conversion of the Parc/Pine avenues interchange into an urban boulevard intersection.
4. Reclading of the exterior curtain wall of PVM 5.
5. Digging a big hole on the corner of René-Lévesque and de la Montagne??(Crystal de al Montagne!)
