I was told by my professor a few days ago (who is a structural engineer) that there are maybe 3 or 5 TOP world class tower experts in Dubai who are responsible for the design of every tower in Dubai city. He also mentioned that when he took a walk in the dubai marina six months ago and saw the poor design of the foundations and shear walls , he guaranteed that these buildings wont last in an earthquake ... scary huh

So i really do hope that the Burj Dubai has a handfull of experts of all fields dedicated to it , and only it for the time being

Does anybody know where Part 1 thread is? I have found all of them down to part 2 (Which was a year ago today).

Amazing that it was only a hole in the ground a year ago.

275 meters by Jan. 1 2007?

It is supposed to reach 950 meters end of 2008. so i am pretty sure it will be higher than 275 on jan 2007

It's a shame that the SWFC will get little to no recognition when topped out even. By then, the BD will be the main focus around the world. Look what happened to T101 as well as Petronas. They didn't have very long to celebrate their supertallness.

SWFC will get nearly no press. Unless they add 20 more floors. Even then, it won't get noticed very much by the average citizen, except locally.

Both of these supertalls should be getting a lot of press, especially being built at the same time, so we can see more rise in the future before we are all planted in the ground (or too old to even care).

When was the last time we seen #1,#2,#3 supertalls in the world get built at the same time? This alone should drive the contractors to add height to these three.

Kabooz' night shot is the best photo since the foundation footprint. Great shot!

Today is exactly 3 years from the target completion date.

From the model that was posted awhile back, it looks like the building will be finished in Gold Tinted Glass.

^what are you talking about????

the foundation will not support a 1200m tower, the absolute maximum it could ever be according to official releases is 950m, but to be honest its more likely to be around 800m.

Oh shit ive started the height debate again sorry sorry sorry
