Ugh is right - I don't like it.

Damn it why can't they build something 'classic' looking? Didn't see what was too wrong with the old Mandarin - it looked original!!!

OK I looked it up. Yes I agree. It looked quite nice before with the stone/concrete (?) cladding. Hong Kong is overwhelmingly glass so it was nice to have that bit of variety and contrast. However, at least they're not going for an all-glass facade.

In a way I'd rather prefer they made it an all-glass facade than trying to mix it up - that looks ****** disgusting!

Tower 2-5 (Three Connecting Towers): 219m
Tower 1 and Tower 6 are around two storeys shorter.

Thanks for that - they seem a heck of a lot taller than 219! Or maybe it's because they're the tallest things in the vicinity and hence seem taller than they really are - ala Eiffel Tower?

I think you guys (Aboveday and Deathscar) are judging too hastily. I think Mandarin Oriental's new cladding will look good when completed. Have patience. Have faith....

The design kind of reminds me of a toned down Q1.

I don't know; neither Emporis nor Skyscraperpage has any information about its height, alongside with many other residential skyscrapers in HK.
But Emporis says that Kornville Towers, undoubtedly a shorter neighbour of The Orchards, is 146m tall.

I know not the topography of the area, but the Orchards (red lines) seem to be much taller than the Kornville Towers (yellow lines); and the cyan line points to the Cornwall Building, which is 165m tall.
