It's a shame to see China making the same mistakes as North Am did in city planning (highways along the water), but a really nice development.

That's true. I guess it's cheaper and easier. That isn't always as bad as we often make it sound. Highways have to go somewhere, you know, but highways along the water is something you sooner or later end up spending big bucks changing.

It's just an observation; it often happens. When a city gets wealthy enough to have enough people with enough time to think about it, they often end up wanting the harbour front as a pedestrian area.
