I disagree. The old proposal is cool but it looks so 90s (concrete etc.). The new one is more modern, although it'll look a bit weird having 2 concrete buildings , surely it's about preserving heritage value. Besides, they're planning to overhaul the facade of one of the old towers as u can see, they could easily do it for the remaining two towers but choose not too.

Well Alvin, exactly my point. Preserving heritage values. The old proposal is more better preserved thanchanged to a glassy one. The thing is that those glassy towers in the new proposal are essentialy the same as any other glassy building. But the concretes in the old proposal (esp the highrise) are different if you compare to other concrete highrises.

I wouldn't be calling a late 80's or early 90's modernist building a heritage. Would be a different case if it were of the decadent art-deco style, or employed vernacular architectural vocabulary on its facade (i.e. as transposed in Wisma Dharmala building). As for now, I would go along with the new "trendy" proposal.

pacific place

www.pacificplacejakarta.com

I think this mall will be very nice... they have pedestrian area with cafes, called pacific walk ( I heard Armani cafe will be there). In the 5th floor, they have a kids entertainment area from Mexico. Children can play to be a doctor in a real hospital, postman in a post office, policeman, bankir....

They have a tunnel that connect Jkt Stock Exchange building and Artha Graha to the mall, the tunnel will have shops, cafes and restaurants.

There will be water feature at 4th floor. The architect is DP from Spore.

The hotel is Ritz Carlton Boutique hotel.

They will be open in June 2007.

In 2009, Pacific place 2 will be opened. PP1 is designed to be very classy while PP2 is for younger market. The hotel will be JW Marriot and Conrad hotel.

That's what I heard from their marketing team.
