Hi all...
I am a newbie to this Jakarta forum and just visited view threads

This one is fantastic.. there are so many projects are in the pipelines...
and some of those designs are really spectacular and stylish ... well done ...
i am looking forward to seeing those completed soon .. i am sure it will change the skyline considerably....

This one caught my attention - the Grand Indonesia - fantastic project !

Do you know how tall are they .... ?

when they are completed ?

Great location to build new skycrapers... right in the middle of city !

Regards

the Peak is about 212m but some say 245m or 333m

Grand Indonesia is about 200-210m

you can see them in the Indonesia projects and Development thread

I think this development is a real shame. I visit Jakarta often and this area is one of the few chances Jakarta had at creating a proper civic space. Instead they of course built another mall - like they need it! In most cities there wuld be some big public facility in an area like this. Jakarta has again succumbed to greed and illogical development for the sake of it.

How immature to say! Even if everyone is enticed to their own opinions, say it kindly. For me, JKT's development is a tangible proof of Indonesia's growing economy.

So where do you come from shaggers_jr?

Why do you have to talk like that?

Do you know anything from Indonesia's history?

Motivate your opinion please?

Have you really been to Jakarta?

Look what I found in the Undiscovered Metro Manila thread. It's the same thing shagger posted. This guy's location is apparently Jakarta. Seems like he wants to spark a war. This poor guy, I pity him/her.

I live in Sydney but travel regularly to Jakarta. I don't know who took my post and put it in the Manila forum - not me. Someone has taken it upon themselves.

I don't think this is evidence for Jakarta's "booming" economy at all. We all know that Jakarta has more malls than it knows what to do with. I just think that Jakarta could have created something for everybody in this space, which is one of the few vaguely civic spaces in the whole city. Instead the city has built another mall which it doesn't need. Why not a library or concert hall or some other cultural institution? Why does everything in Jakarta have to be about where you can buy Louis Vuitton (that said, the museum is a lot better than it used to be. But Jakarata needs more institutions like this if it wants to be taken seriously as a world city. Cities aren't just expensive apartments and malls. NO MORE malls in Jakarta!)
