if that's the case, is the target opening date of 12 december 2012 attainable considering the number of floors, rooms, and ammenities enumerated in araneta center's official website?

Considering that most of the structures u/c now in Araneta Center (being built by the Araneta's themselves) are using steel (if that's how you call it), *maybe*, they can pull off a soft opening by december. The gateway tower is an example. They constructed that thing so fast.

Screenshot or it didn't happen! That is, we need pictorial proof of the Gateway Tower's very timely completion....or at the very least topping out!

Seriously, anyone has a current or recent photo on the status of that office tower? Updates are so bloody hard to come by...

Araneta Center Email Newsletter

While the past 52 years has seen many triumphs for the Coliseum, we don’t intend to rest on our laurels and instead forge ahead with our plans for an “Extreme Transformation” of the Big Dome.

The historic arena is currently undergoing a comprehensive, top-to-bottom Extreme Transformation that will provide a significantly enhanced experience for customers, athletes, entertainers, fans, and partners from the first row to the last.

Work on the new green gate entrance will start the week of March 5th and is scheduled to be finished by April 30th. Focused on the total fan experience, the new Smart Araneta Coliseum will offer a new Parking facility for 1500 cars, a new grand cathedral ceiling atrium entrance, an Art Museum, wider concourses, new first-class food and entertainment amenities, improved sightlines, more comfortable seating, a dynamic scoreboard, sound and video systems in HD, a modernized state of the art TicketNet, and a new ultra-exclusive membership club, all of which will cost over one billion pesos.

Araneta Coliseum needs competition. If it's not for SM Arena, things may stay as it is.

I guess its a good competition in the future.
Once SM Arena Opens, Araneta will be full blast in their renovation of the dome.
Once Araneta Finishes its facelift, thats where the real competition starts

The planned pedestrian walkway bridge already looks 10x nicer than SM Arena's bulky and concrete dominated one.

Right now however, I'm not a big fan of the coliseum renders. It still looks dated, IMO. They could've been more daring with the design... something iconic. I dunno... I'm hoping that the finished product would turn out better than what I'm expecting.

if that will be true, but the outcome of that bridge will likely be bulky than sm-cubao-shopwise foot bridge(steel, reinforced concrete), it should hold an average of 150 kilos per sqm meter for the saturation of full capacity, then it would be an ugly one, unless they will provide an cable stayed bridge
