IMO this Milan's outstanding tower is really well designed and properly planned to be the landmark and centerpoint of Porta Nuova ("new gate")

This is the intersection between Via Melchiorre Gioia and Viale della Liberazione,
taken from the podium which leads to the space of Piazza Gae Aulenti. On the right side, work in progress.
On the left side, old buildings, under redevelopment soon. Green areas will have a new look,
along with the new contemporary urban park "Library of the Trees" (area is not visible). On the background Breda Tower.

Unfortunately, there are no plans for redevelopment at the moment for those buildings.
They'll eventually come up with a plan in the future because those areas have become very valuable, but we'll have to wait for a while.

Porta Nuova U/C from above
UniCredit Tower and Gae Aulenti Square. At bottom center of the pic, in the gray quadrangle, this building will be built. On the right side, part of 'Library of Trees' areas.

Launched a plan for the elimination of architectural barriers
Strengthen dozens of interventions with involvement of associations since the design phase. More than 16 million euros are planned for 2014: urban areas, such as city administrative buildings, roads, tram/bus/metro stations. An app to promote pathways and options without barriers is scheduled.

Milano Malpensa Airport is an Etihad Airways european hub.
In addition 115 mln euros to connect its two terminals.

"Milano Malpensa Airport and Rome Fiumicino Airport, are the two major hubs of the country within the larger development project and business plan of new agreement Alitalia-Etihad Airways", said Infrastructure Minister Maurizio Lupi. "We will work to give directly high-speed trains to Malpensa. Our job must be to invest in infrastructure to ensure that airports can play their game" he continued. Meanwhile, among other projects to improve Malpensa Airport, it was approved the construction of a link, between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

The total cost of this project is 115 million euro, divided between: 31 mln (Lombardy Region), 45 mln (Central Government), 23 mln (EU), 16 mln (Milan Airports Society). This connection is part of 'strategic projects' and TEN-T (Trans European Network-Transport). The project is divided into two part: 1) construction of the underground railway station; 2) covers the continuation of railway line (approximately 3.4 km) for a long double-track tunnel and trench, and includes plant rail along track and the internal station in Terminal 2. Everything must to be completed between December 2015 and February 2016.

It's called Torre Tirrena (Tyrrhenian Tower), 1956-57 by Eugenio and Ermenegildo Soncini (I guess they're relatives )

You can find some other pictures inside this link: http://www.architetturami.com/2010/1...-tirrenia.html
