Spanish team won bid to design new "Childhood Pavilion" in Porta Nuova District

Milan's city government has assigned the prize for the international competition to design the Childhood Pavilion: a place open to children, with spaces, activities and games, with particularly attention to children with disabilities. The winner is a spanish team based in Madrid, led by architect Esau Acosta Pérez, 35 years. Their project was selected from over 300 proposals from every part of the world. Located in "The Library of Trees" urban contemporay park, the pavilion is part of the transformation process of Porta Nuova Business District.

"This is a place of great importance for Milan and for all our children - said the urban planning deputy, Ada Lucia De Cesaris - a place thought to give to all our 'little people' of today and their families a better quality life through education to the game. Let us go forward with all the other major projects planned in this area: such as the new Civic Center and the conversion of Bussa overpass, which we launched for the first time on the digital platform concorrimi.it".

Milan like Big Brother: 1700 live cameras to improve 24h security

Everyone will see everything, better and in real time. Fire department, Financial Police, Forestal Police, so far excluded from the 'Big Brother' overlooking the city. City Government expands the network of citizen surveillance. Milan makes available to all (City Police and Carabinieri had access by some time), live images of about 1,700 cameras that guard the city 24 hours on 24, 7 days on 7. A new step towards closer interconnection between operating rooms of the local police and all law enforcement agencies. The operation launched by the City, which in addition has allocated 160,000 euro for technical interventions, necessary to make available in real time to all the operations. Fixed cameras placed everywhere, also on ATM vehicles, shelters, trams and gates of the limited traffic areas, and around San Siro stadium.

Sure. One of them will be Melchiorre Gioia 22. Then redevelopment of other old towers will come soon. Little projects (not skyscrapers/highrises) are planned

Yeah, one of them is just an issued permission to build, but we have no idea when and how this will happen.
At the moment, the empty lot looks like this. A slice of the lot on the right should be used to enlarge the street, whereas the rest will be covered by the tower.

The other one had a rendering and a plan to be built, but then the developer failed and was arrested for false accounting. Porta Nuova developers (Hines Italy) are buying the area to make a new highrise, but there is still no design for the tower.

The empty lot is here, at the left of the bridge:

Finally, this building will someday be completed. The owner is the guy who was arrested for false accounting, so construction stopped in 2012. Hines is trying to buy this as well, to complete it.

Here's a rendering for the completed lot (the lower buildings are behind the high-rise, not visible in the photo). We don't know if the designer will somehow decide to change its design, maybe apply a different glass or paint it in another colour.

Triennale Museum for Piazza Castello

Milan is changing. Many squares live a second (or more) life. Piazza Castello is one of them, and one of the most important. The pedestrianization of the whole area is already began, but what will be its use? Solution will come from Triennale. Team of the museum, which will be led by architect Alberto Ferlenga, have task the planning. Square should become a place of connection between Sforza Castle, Sempione park and historic center. Surely there will be furniture of high design to represent excellences of the city. Host events will be cultural, and if there are commercial activities, these must also comply with the same guidelines. The Triennale has already involved a dozen architectural firms, which will start in July with a phase on how to redesign Piazza Castello. Project ideas are expected to be unveiled in September.
