Just realized that they took the escalators off already!

Yeah in some part, it will only in Historic Core but we need more modern flats like in Tokyo.

And half of the L.A. forumers on SSP live Downtown which is cool because they could see the developments and constructions going down.

Photo update - Feb. 12, 1006

Ferneyism, ask and yee shall receive...

Today was a beautiful day (mid 70's for February, damn! ), so I loaded fresh batteries in the camera and put on my walkin' shoes. Too bad I picked the one day that ImageShack updates their database. For one day only, all your images are placed in random order, so I had to search through hundreds of images to find these.

Oh well, let's start in Little Tokyo...

2nd and Central
This one's not looking promising. Details are really crappy right now, but from the looks of it, they still have a ways to go, so hopefully they clean it up. Looking northeast from 2nd Street.

The other side looking west across Central.

Ralph's - Market Lofts
On to South Park. They're working on the second floor of Ralph's. And moving about as fast as a dead snail.

Perhaps this is the reason they're moving so slowly. Instead of building the structure, they're testing out exterior colors on the first floor.

Hanover Tower
Still digging. Getting pretty deep though, I would say about 25-30 feet. Looking west from Olympic.

Looking east, also from Olympic.

LA Live
This site is ******* huge. It's damn near the size of Ground Zero, just not as deep. But it's still pretty deep. Here's a shitty pano of the site from Figueroa looking west (my Photoshop skills are not as good as my bowstaff or nunchuck skills).

Along the southeastern edge of the site, they're starting to install rebar columns for the beginnings of what looks like the underground parking. Sorry, my cameras zoom isn't that good.

Liberty Grill
Perhaps this was the terrorist target Bush was talking about? Maybe he got it confused with Library Tower?

Elleven
Elleven's coming along very nicely. My bet is cladding is completely done in a month. Looking east from the corner of 11th and Hope, with Luma (and a huge exodus of Kings fans) in the foreground.

South park's starting to densify. And katfam's balconies railings are getting installed...

Luma
They're working on the third floor columns for Luma. I think the podium has four floors, then the tower rises above that. I'm hoping that once they reach the smaller floorplates of the tower, these floors can rise a bit quicker. Still, progress is good and this one will be fun to watch going up.

Packard Lofts
Say what you will about these, I think they turned out nice. They fit very well with Metropolitan Tower across the street. And this building is very photogenic in the late afternoon.

The retail spaces along Olympic. Very nice until you see that people will be dining outside on gravel. :koko: I'd like to meet the genius who thought it would be cool to put gravel along the sidewalk of an urban environment.

The Ambassador Hotel
I can't wait for this project to start. This stretch of Grand (with 801 - or, sorry - Sky Lofts in the background) is going to be lively once this thing opens up again.

Brockman Lofts and Mandel Lofts
Taking foreeeeever. :slob:

Colburn Expansion
Here's your martini shot. This one's a little more than halfway up. Classroom hijinx should commence in 8 months or so.

That's all for today, folks.

Ha..I was in downtown today as well (colemokee..mid 70's my ass. It was around 80 more or less ). My friend had to do some business on the 21st floor of ARCO Tower (or is it 1055 W. 7th St?). Whatever.

Anywho, I had a vast view of pretty much ALL of LA. It was such a clear day today. I could see the control tower of LAX, Hollywood, Century City, the ocean, and Long Beach.

But the thing that most interested me most wa 1100 Wilshire seeing as how it was across the street. There was ALOT of people milling around 1100 Wilshire. I'm not too sure if they were future residents or what but there was alot of people. I could see that the pool area looks really nice. Palm trees, tourch lamps, and the like. I imagine alot of loft parties up there.

I also had a birds eye view of the LA Live site. That place is massive. Whenever the Hilton hotel rises, added to the Metropolis project, is going to be a awesome addition.

That's pretty much it from what I saw.

Awesome, much needed update.
