[QUOTE=colemonkee]For everyone asking for pictures, my snowboarding trip got cancelled this weekend, so here you go. It started to rain at the end of my walk, but it was well worth it for the dramatic skies. Enjoy!

Some serious above ground columns. Is this already the beginning of the Nokia Theater?

Monkee,
Sorry to hear about your exciting weekend being canceled. At least you took some kick ass pix of Downtown. This has to be one of my favorite ones, I would say. For the simple fact that LA Live, is finally coming "Alive". Just to think what does columns are going to create...... (A pause), It's time to celebrate!!!!!! Woohoo*

Added 3670 Wilshire, Wilshire and Western, 2 mid-Wilshire maps, and Evo is officially under construction.

Three Hundrerd, great job of keeping this post updated. a few things i noticed though, Evo is 23 stories, Luma 19, Metropolis is 4 towers of 30, 42, 46 and 55, Harold Examinor is 2 towers of 37 and 4 and i think the rest is correct.

Seriously, is LA Live like the fastest project ever? I would not doubt if the whole thing is finished in mid or late 09.

I'm VERY curious about Metropolis and Grand Avenue projects. Everything in downtown seems to be slow. Why is that?

So I went downtown yesterday (and today). Since I don't have a camera, I'll just give you a verbal rundown.

Hanover Tower's crane is complete. And Hanover is officially above ground.

LA Live..concrete was being poured near the corner of Fig to possibly hold the crane that will go up pretty soon.

Ralph's is chugging along. Surprisingly, you can see a difference.

Luma is on the 4th floor and Evo is still dirt and whatnot.

Some good news on Grand Ave. Pelimanary designs will be realeased either this month or the begining of May.

FromLA: The LA Live complex will be done in 2007..the hotel mid 08-early 09.

I believe 300 just gave us an update.
I knew that LA Live will be finished by 09', but I mean fully running. I just want everybody to give a round of applouse to the Hanover Tower.

Felt the need for some visuals here. The photos are from Skyscraper Page and show katfam's new Elleven loft in Downtown Los Angeles.

In the first photo, what is that white building with the greenish colored windows?

Wow, sure would love to be in his place. In the first pic, in the left side, in that building being demolished? From the looks of it, makes me think of it. Plus back in the days, the walls use to be brown, and the windows somehow looked better. In the LA forum, there is a picture of the crane for the Hanover Tower for you who don't it.

Slow news day..anyway, here is some of the new schools (most have AWESOME designs) going up in LA.

LA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL #9, aka LA HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

SCIENCE CENTER HIGH SCHOOL

CAMINO NUEVO CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL

OTHERS
Dena Primary Center:

LA New Primary Center #5:

Southeast High School:

Vista Hermosa (Belmont Learning Center..=\)

LA New Elementary School #1

South Central LA High #1

From laschools.org
Quote:
We are building new schools and making our existing schools better through the largest school construction and repair program -- $19.2 Billion -- in the nation's history. We're building more than 150 new schools for the students of Los Angeles, and when our new construction program is complete in 2012, we will have built the equivalent of San Diego's entire school district right here in LA! And we'll finish thousands of much needed projects in existing facilities during that period too.

Some schools focus on praticular subjects more than others (school for the arts, science, ect). But all schools have basic classes like math and english.
