I meant Grand Ave as the whole thing, not just that two block area. And yes, the rendring showing the newest proposals would be great.

New renderings, according to the architects, won't be available until the announcement sometime next week.

Last I heard, the CRA had approved the proposed development with the increased densities (that's different than getting approval to move forward with construction, but it's a very positive first step). Then Mani Bros., the owners of 801 Grand, a commercial tower adjacent to the site, filed a lawsuit claiming that the approval of the increased density was illegal, and will try to get some kind of public review or at the very least an injunction on the CRA's decision. That was about a month or a month and a half ago, and I haven't heard anything since.

I wouldn't expect to hear anything on this for a while, as these kinds of behind-the-scenes legal battles take some time. But I would expect it to delay the project somewhat. How long we don't know. However, I don't expect this to derail the project completely as the developers have put a lot of time and money into this for it to fall apart. Other market factors, though (a weakening housing market, possible deflation of housing prices, increasing construction costs) could play a role if it is delayed too long.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Ultimately, though, I'm still optimistic.

I haven't posted here in a long time but I knew Concerto was breaking ground around the 11th when I saw them moving those parking atendant booths out I walked by today looks like they were dismantling the lighting. I figure if they work tomorrow and sunday by monday morning u will see a totally empty lot ready for groundbreaking.

I'm going to be downtown on Monday afternoon to help a friend of mine scout filming locations. I'll try to attend the Grand Avenue event and then check out Concerto to see if they've started work. No guarantees on pics just yet! I'll try though.

The Rodmark Sales office has a sign up in a window on the corner of Flower & Olympic it says Rodmark Sales Office Coming Soon!! So I guess these guys mean serious business about this project but right now its 48-72 hour countdown till we see the renderings grace the pages of the LA Times I can't wait worth anything.

So if they set up the sales office, doesn't that mean for sure that they're to build something for sure? My anwser is positive.

I'm SO excited. Concerto will break ground soon, the Grand Avenue Phase 1(Iconic Tower-yes?) will be released, the City House and Olympic developer Rodmark will be opening offices soon, and it's rumored of three new buildings in downtown including one that is 65 stories tall! And to top it all off, LA Live is progressing forward quite nicely. If all these proposed projects are built, just imagine how the skyline will look by 2010!!! With Metropolis also, even though it is being delayed, the skyline will look VERY different.
