LAB from SSP said that the Olympic is going to have a spire. So we can expect to see a spire in the new renderings???!!!BTW, is that the meeting you were talking about that was being postponed?

question

I have a question as I was looking over the Concerto (Concierto ) project. Why do u think that Astani decided to build the low-rise building first? Do u think he has the mentality that the market will eventually cool off and so its better to of had 1 low rise bldg unless the 2 taller bldgs somehow fall through and he cant build them? Also wat does Phase I consist of besides the low-rise building, is the urban park and greenspace included also or are those phased into the 2nd phase?

additonal news

I also went by the South Sales offices and talked with the guy there he said Fig South will no longer be twin towers but now the 2nd tower has been downsized to 23 stories because of construction costs so Fig South will now have 23 & 34 story structures instead of 2 twin structures. I think this is more asthetically appealing knocking that complex type look.

-Olive lofts has been cancelled for the meantime because of elevating construction cost.

-Glass tower is still in awaiting a developer

-Trader Joes and Whole foods are still scouting areas throughout Downtown and possibly have favored the South Park area alot.

-and that the speculation of something being developed on the 5th/Olive site have been going on for sometime. And possible it will be a development where buyers pick their own floorplans and actual unit size say if a buyer wanted to have a triple level unit they meet with the developer and he designs it according to their specifications.

lol But the more i see these renderings the more i am filled with anticipation to see wat Grand Ave South can become. Possibly Grand Ave can become a world-class thoroghfare. But I must say these tall structures will look waay outta place for the near future until or if another likeminded developer decides to come by and do something of equal or greater value. But I wonder how the neighborhood is gonna be affected by everything going up. You have a plastic looking gas station across the street, South & maybe Glass Tower 1 block south of this project and u have the FEderal Reserve Lofts across the street and Hotel Gansevoort 1 block north, FIDM, SKylofts, and the possible 8th/grand project coming on the block, I just really wonder what and how the different mix of ppls (ethnicity and class) will convert and be attracted to this neighborhood. Overall I hope for the best and am highly looking forward to watever other project is gonna be from this catalyst development.

those are the new renders. the reason there are no helipads is because they have a new elevator technology that the city ahs approved, therefore no need for helipads. this is according to LAB from SSP. The shorter building has a small point fromt he look of it, and personally i like it better than a long as spire to inflate the height of the building. There should be an article in tomorrows LA Times on these buildings from what their rep told me last week in his email response.

Cool LA Live pics by the way. what a vantage point. thats going to be great in a few months when things are really buzzing.
