No....it's a different one than that. Gehry made a model for the one next to the Concert Hall...my friend has the magazine, i'll try and get it soon so I can post a picture of it. maybe the "iconic" tower will resemble something along the lines of his previous design???

I was on AOL Search and found this. It is from the CRA [Community Redevelopment Agency], it is a rendering of the plan 4 towers called Metropolis scheduled to break ground this September. Here's the link
http://crala.org/internet-site/PROJE...Metropolis.cfm
Cool. I hope that's how the buildings will be situated, it is going to add a whole lot of density.

^ I don't think that's Metropolis. No one really knows what it'll look like.

Anyway, I added Fig South to the front page.

It clearly is Metropolis, as the model of the streets, costs, timelines and planned phases match it exactly. However, this looks to be a massing model only, and shouldn't necessarily be indicative of the design. It may not even be the final layout of the buildings, but this is definitely a version of the Metropolis development in Los Angeles.

The sign for the Glass Tower has been pulled off. What does this mean? I woish it meant that they're going to start it already. It could also ,mean that they sold the land, or that they're building it themselves. The Glass Tower is one of the ones I'm really looking forward for it.

Could this be the early Iconic Tower?

I wonder if it's going ot be something like the 1100 building. A base and a tower on top..I personally don't like that look.

Looks like there's underground parking in the model...how tall is a parking floor anyway? maybe we could roughly see how tall this "iconic" tower will be?

The parking floors of most buildings are provbably like 8 to 8.5 feet high. I like the base and tower design, it makes me think of two separate buildings.

Yes this is the Metropolis project, but the tower style/configureation, look like the original proposal, from back in the late 80's,( designed by Micheal Graves).

And the new architect is the Gruen associates, (or so im told.?) maybe they did a recladded copy of the original..?? But with a density increace of 2.5 i can't imagine it looking like this.

Can some one shed some light on this????

^ I don't think anyone knows what Metropolis will look like. I mean this rendering was posted not too long ago and I'm not sure that this is Metropolis seeing as how the current project calls for towers between 30-50 stories and those shown look to be 35 stories all around.

I don't like either proposals. I think they should come up with something less tacky and more grand.
