I think they must add some brake in the middle of the box design of the bldg with exposed columns and greeneries as reflect in the podium.

New project in Chinatown.

High end developer Anchor Land Holdings, Inc. said construction of its newest project in Chinatown, the 39-storey Wharton Parksuites, is in full swing and work on the main structure will be further boosted with the recent selection of Freyssinet Filipinas Corporation as general contractor for the project.
The Wharton Parksuites, which is designed to enhance the Chinese tradition of good education and the value of learning through enterprise and hard work, is targeted towards transients who send their children to the distinguished Chinese learning institutions in the district, as well as travelers who frequently do business in the area.
The project site is strategically located along Masangkay Street. It is walking distance from the most prominent Chinese schools in Binondo like the Philippine Academy of Sakya, the Hope Christian High School, St. Stephen’s School, Chiang Kai Shek College, Uno High School and the St. Stephen’s Elementary Department, among others.
The design of Wharton Parksuites is a fusion between the convenience of a luxury hotel and the functionality of a modern learning institution with its wi-fi internet, a well-appointed library, tutorial rooms, as well as recreation centers, physical fitness amenities and other facilities to help residents keep their mind and body in tiptop shape.
Engineer Rey Villanueva Jr., Anchor Land’s Assistant Vice President for Engineering, said Freyssinet’s contract calls for the completion of Wharton Parksuites’ main structure in 27 months.
Freyssinet Filipinas Corporation was established in 1974 as a post-tensioning contractor with the principal objective of developing the use of pre-stressing for large-scale construction projects. The company now provides conceptualization-to-completion project solutions and has established a General Building Construction division to service its clients.
Villanueva said sheet piling works for the project have been completed and bored piling works will likewise be finished before Freyssinet starts work on the main structure.
He said the design for the project has been adjusted so that there will no longer be a basement floor for parking to address concerns about potential flooding in the area. As such, the Wharton Parksuites will be built from the ground level up.
The Wharton Parksuites is the third project of Anchor Land Holdings in Binondo after the Lee Towers and Mandarin Square, both of which have been completed ahead of schedule. A fourth project in the district, the 56-storey Anchor Skysuites, will soon break ground on its way to becoming Chinatown’s tallest structure.
Ms Elizabeth Ventura, Anchor Land’s Vice President for Sales and Marketing, said the inspiration for Wharton Parksuites is primarily education, both formally and informally, which is a lasting legacy of Manila’s Chinatown.
From young children learning their parents’ trade through daily exposure to the economic activities in the district, through wise and sage counsel handed down from generation to generation, Chinatown has become a veritable school of life for the country’s ethnic Chinese population through the centuries.
“The tradition of nurturing young minds, of letting the young experience first hand how hard it is to earn money, thus providing them lessons to appreciate the value of hard work, is an ongoing concern of every Chinatown parent,” Ms Ventura said.
“Wharton not only offers a roof over your head. We want to make sure that, inside and outside of your units, your children’s education are always at center stage. As such, we offer a mix of educational and entertainment amenities to make sure that their learning do not stop in school.”

Were it not for the helpless and congested space in Chinatown, the place itself could rival that of the major CBDs in the metro. BTW the design is indeed grand and sleek.
