many investors are actually eyeing sites outside Manila, not only Cebu. But market reliability hinders them from jumpstrating their projects. Take Metro Cebu as an example, w/c has roughly over a million population compared to Manila w/c has 12 million above. You cannot expect Cebu to fair Manila's real estates investments, given the market.

Cebu doesn't have as much people (about 1/4 or 1/5 of Kalakhang Manila's total population) and market (also the financial capital) as Manila does, unfortunately. Historically, people have associated the Philippines with Manila and vice versa so other big cities like Cebu and Davao has to go extra further to get name recognition. When Cebu and Davao's population reach 3-5 million, then you'll start to see even more investors going there.

This is xenocentric marketing, why can't they just use something filipino-themed to market their building, rather than using another city like New York.

You should see the list of names these places have. Dos Rios, Manhattan, Taft, McKinley, California Garden Square. Putang ina, akala ko nasa Amerika ang mga proyektong ito. (Damn it. Looking at this list, you'd think it's all being built in the US.)

I agree, I know that the local names we could give the scrapers are not as appealing to the majority, but its the fault of the damn marketers/media. Why can't they follow the example of Rockwell which uses names of known Filipinos for their buildings (Rizal, Luna, Manansala), and still is the most exclusive condos in the Phils.
