ahh, ok. how many designs are there? i just hope they'll choose a design that will be iconic for the city and also for the country as a whole.

i'm just wondering, are there also plans on putting up a ferris wheel similar to that of the london eye or the singapore flyer? kuala lumpur just opened theirs last month and from what i heard in the news they had a power outage during the opening leaving some passengers inside the capsules stranded on midair...scary!

I'm not sure why we'd want a ferris wheel, but if I had to guess, the best chance of there being a ferris wheel in Manila would be in the Mall of Asia Complex.

well it's like the IN thing nowadays. every major cities u could think of have/building/proposing one. but yea, if ever there's any plan for it, i think the best place is at the MOA complex.

The majority of the high-rise projects happening are condos. Any office towers?

There are some office towers yet to be constructed but renderings are yet to be released to us.

I saw that render of Avant Tower. There's also a render of a supertall on the background. Is there a planned supertall in that area?

And if it gets built, the scraper resembled that of 2-IFC. I'm really for a supertall scraper in Manila that's why I would like to see The Lopez Centre built.

Me too hehe.

Anyway, according to a news article, the unified PSE building will be similar to Ayala Tower 1. It's glassy and pretty tall.

MANILA, Philippines -- A 66-story edifice being touted as the country's tallest building will soon rise in Taguig City later this year, Mayor Freddie Tinga said on Thursday.

Tinga bared plans by real estate developer Federal Land Inc. to construct the mixed use building which will also house a fully furnished five-star hotel, on a 27-hectare lot in the North Bonifacio district later this year.

The mayor added that the building would feature 350 rooms with five-star hotel facilities, as well as residential and commercial units.

“Given the continuous development of the city, Taguig is fast becoming an ideal tourism destination in Metro Manila,” Tinga said.

The Federal Land Inc, a property unit of the Metrobank group of companies, is estimated to spend at least P20 billion for the complex.

The Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company already owns 10.6 ha where the 66-story building is set to rise.

The remaining 16 ha belong to the state-owned Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

"Choosing Taguig was an easy decision to make, especially with its rapidly growing development as a result of forward looking urban planning schemes,” company president Alfred V. Ty said in a statement.

The rapid development of the Global City in Fort Bonifacio has made Taguig City an alternative business district in the country, he added.

Meanwhile, Tinga noted that the progress the city has made in the past decade would ensure Taguig City's status as “a total package city.”

“The completion of the country’s tallest building at the Fort will complement our efforts in promoting Taguig as a 'total package' city and will certainly put us in the tourism map of the Philippines,” the newly reelected mayor said.

Tinga, who was reelected along with incumbent vice mayor George Elias, is set to take his oath this Saturday at City Hall.

He also lauded the Metrobank Group, adding that such private sector initiatives were crucial in sustaining the country's growth.

“This will open up more doors for Taguig, which has now become a key investment city in Metro Manila. But more than the opportunities that it offers our city, we believe this will eventually benefit our country’s economy,” Tinga pointed out.

“This is exactly what we have envisioned for Taguig, particularly here in Fort Bonifacio -- a place where people can live, work, and enjoy in one community. And this is now coming true, with the help of our private sector partners,” the city mayor said.

Maybe the crown's design is taken from Burj al Arab's design. Both look somewhat the same.

I just hope that the planned supertall has 4 equal sides kinda like the Enterprise Centre in Makati. Much better a landmark scraper, something that Manila needs.
