RAK Properties awards China Harbor an estimated AED 67 million contract

RAK Properties (PJSC), the premier real estate development company of Ras Al Khaimah, has recently contracted with the China-based China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC) for the construction of the marine works of Mina Al Arab Project in Ras Al Khaimah for an estimated AED 67 million.
United Arab Emirates: 8 hours, 36 minutes ago

Mina Al Arab is expected to become one of the elite resort destinations in the region with its 3 sq KM. mixed use leisure and holiday beach resort situated along the Arabian Gulf in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

Mohammed Sultan Al Qadi, Managing Director, RAK Properties, said 'Mina Al Arab is one of RAK Properties' premier projects in the region, aiming at developing the emirate of RAK into a primary touristic destination. RAK Properties is committed to provide high quality developments catering for the region's demand that goes in parallel with the boom in the real estate sector the region is witnessing.'

Currently the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah is undertaking a major change in its infrastructure and development projects triggered by the emirate's Deputy Ruler & Crown Prince, HH Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi and led by the vision of HH Sheikh Saqr Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

Many high quality projects have recently been launched as part of the emirate's plans for progress and development with the majority of projects undertaken by RAK Properties.

China Harbor's work at Mina Al Arab is expected to be completed by the end of year 2006.

China Harbor (CHEC) is a large group of companies mainly engaged in the construction of harbours, dredging, irrigation, environmental protection and public works.

Al Qadi concluded,

'We believe that our partnership with China Harbor will pave the way in establishing an exceptionally rare and high quality resort that will help Mina Al Arab become a tourist beacon in the Arabian Gulf.'

'Mina Al Arab' transforms Ras Al Khaimah into a world class tourist destination

Following its motto 'Living Closer to Nature', RAK Properties (PJSC), the premier real estate development company of Ras Al Khaimah, has unveiled its second major development project in RAK 'Mina Al Arab' at an estimated cost of AED 10 billion, that will occupy a total area of 30 million square feet spread over a beachfront strip and a group of islands.
United Arab Emirates: 0 minutes ago

Mina Al Arab Project rendering.

This was announced at a press conference held at the Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa in Dubai on April 30, 2006, and especially dedicated to the launch of this prestigious project.

This exciting project proposes the creation of integrated and diverse communities offering luxury residential and international standard tourism developments, coupled with world class retail entertainment and waterside dining facilities.

A number of themed resort hotels and two eco-hotels will also be featured along the beautiful natural beaches of the islands that will provide an estimated 3,500 sumptuous rooms for tourists and visitors of the emirate, in addition to a cluster of 3,500 residential units, mainly bora bora hotel units and standard apartments to cater for the regional & international visitors.

Mohammed Sultan Al Qadi, Managing Director, RAK Properties, commented: 'We would like to convey our profound gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, for his forethought and leadership, without which we wouldn't be able to make this dream come true. Mina Al Arab is a perfect embodiment of RAK Properties' motto of 'Living Closer to Nature', and we are pleased to introduce this project to the people of the UAE in general and RAK in particular and the world.'

Mina Al Arab is situated in a unique natural setting incorporating unspoiled beaches, a vibrant inner harbour, tranquil lagoons and a pristine ecological wetland reserve. A diverse and vital environment will be created through human scaled development, secure and comfortable urban settings and a water based lifestyle, offering visitors and residents a distinctive range of residential and recreational choices unavailable elsewhere in the region.

The project will offer a range of 388 residential villas that resemble various architectural styles such as the Arabic, Spanish, Venetian and Mediterranean all facing a natural lagoon and surrounded by cascades. Alongside the villas, a Harbour will be established as the heart of Mina Al Arab, which is set to become the downtown of the community with a thriving pedestrian, social environment meeting a traditional Arabian Souk selling everything from basic goods to luxury items.

Furthermore, an oasis walk - a lushly landscaped corridor that serves as a pedestrian and bicycle pathway and acts as a link between islands will be accessible along with an eco zone, occurring as natural coastal wetlands and home to a variety of fascinating marine life, thus preserving and showcasing the beauty of nature in ecological preserves.

Mina Al Arab is made complete by a host of amenities which complement the community and make it the ideal home, or the perfect retreat. These amenities include 310 hectares of open spaces, ecological preserves & landscaping, traditional 'abra' water taxis, parks, medical facilities, mosque, cafes & restaurants, and recreational facilities such as gym, tennis courts, spas and sporting activities.

'We at RAK Properties aspire to build and establish our status as a sound and leading real estate developer in the country and the region. This unique setting and inspiring destination will place Mina Al Arab and Ras Al Khaimah on the international stage', concluded Al Qadi.

People may laugh now..but i bet any money these kind of resorts (outside Dubai) will be extremely popular with those ppl not wishing to partake in the "metropolis rat-race" that Dubai will become (if it hasn't already) when its projects are complete.

If they do this right, it's gona be a great retreat. What Hatta etc was to Dubai in the 90s.

Mina Al Arab.

Marking Ras Al Khaimah's major reconstruction & development, the 10-billion dirhams project involves the development of integrated and diverse communities offering luxury residential and international standard tourism developments, coupled with world class retail entertainment and waterside dining facilities.

The project is spread over total area of 30 million square feet, whereby only one third of it will be developed while the remaining two thirds will be left for the visitors to enjoy the natural scenery of the surroundings.
Alongside the 'Mina Al Arab' project, RAK Properties also showcased its premier project 'Julfar Towers' that also caught the visitors' attention.

Commenting on the outcome of the exhibition, Mohammed Sultan Al Qadi, Managing Director, RAK Properties, commented: 'We were delighted to participate in the Arabian Travel Market Exhibition, considered among the most prestigious forums for travel & tourism in the region. It provided us with an ideal platform to showcase our multibillion mega project 'Mina Al Arab' that is expected to transform the emirate into a world-class tourist destination upon its completion. We were also overwhelmed with the number of selling transactions that took place at the exhibition selling freehold units at 'Mina Al Arab' & 'Julfar Towers', which reflected the investors' trust in RAK Properties' projects.'

Mina Al Arab offers a number of themed resort hotels and two eco-hotels established along the beautiful natural beaches of the islands that will provide an estimated 3,500 rooms for tourists and visitors of the emirate, in addition to a cluster of 3,500 residential units, mainly hotel units and standard apartments to cater for the regional & international visitors.

In view of what Mina Al Arab is offering, it is expected to contribute in nourishing the tourism sector in the UAE and the region.

Al Qadi concluded:

"Under His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi's guidance, RAK Properties has managed to establish its status as a sound and leading real estate developer in the region, with the aim of positioning RAK as a favoured location for residents, business and organizations alike, and a vibrant tourist, leisure & shopping destination. We were delighted to receive a similar response from the travel & tourism community at the Exhibition.'

Thanks! I was really looking for this! Google yielded me with no results whatsoever but SSC was to the rescue again.

Is this the controversial project that is built in the nature reserve where the birds come every year? If so, I will not invest in this project as I feel the birds shoudl get priority IMO.

As part of Ras Al Khaimah, the northern most Emirate of the U.A.E, ruled since 1948 by HH Sheik Saqer bin Mohammed al Qassimi, Mina Al Arabs location provides a unique opportunity for tourism, taking advantage of a direct frontage with the Arabian Sea and superb surrounding landscape including a ramsar quality wetland. The project site is ideally located 100km North (60 minutes) FROM BOTH Dubai airport and the city of Dubai and 10km west of the capital of the Emirate of Ras al Khaimah. This location will ensure Mina al Arabs future as a major resort destination for international travelers. With superb views across the Arabian Sea and distant views to the mountains (30 minutes) and its ramsar quality wetland, Mina Al Arab will become a true eco-tourism destination.

100 km from the airport is a little far but at least there will be no noise from airplanes taking off. perfect setting for an eco destination.

I did not see any prices listed on the site. How much for the beachfront properties?

I visited RAK 2 days ago and first impression was a very bad one. I can't believe they are thinking of building any of these projects!! The place needs a major face lift.
