OK... So who's paying for the generator then? What's in it for them?

I mean, can a tower like this one, with a third of the structure already built, could that really end up demolished and not finished somehow? Even if shortened?
I can't recall any such previous case...

Well, I said I was just speculating plus to think of it, it would be unlikely the authorities would allow a noisy and dirty diesel generator in the middle of a dense residential/commercial area.

Speaking of density, I can see that the tower is way to close to the one in the right and seemingly very close to the one at the back as well. The lower section (first 10 or so floors) of this tower seams to be parking (angled plates) so no problem there, what about the neighbor?

Is that kind of proximity quite common in town?

Most of the larger towers in Chicago aren't that close to one another, although there are many instances in which smaller builders do get that close.
