They need to have a bake sale, that area of Chicago has long lacked quality bread, and, depending on the demand, I believe $200-300 million could be made

Only hope your kidding. It is no more ugly then your average 20 fl. in under construction building. Let it sit two years, five years, ten years if need be to find someone who wants to take on the original plans. It is only really noticeable from the north anyhow as it is hemmed in from other sides and doesn't really draw much relative attention to itself IMO.

No, there is not good enough reason to take on that responsibility.

They also could finish the parking garage and use the rest as a billboard.

They should finish the building at this height, it will look better than that super thin tower.

Not a whole lot - there is exposed concrete everywhere here.

The exposed re-bar may need some treatment if it is left for more than a year or so.

The buiding is on fire.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A fire at a high rise under construction in downtown Chicago Friday night has been controlled.
The building is on the northeast corner of State Street and North Wacker Drive. No injuries were reported.
The fire department says roofing materials on the very top of this building, which is under construction, caught fire. It is a hotel which is under construction and unoccupied at this point.
But the roofing materials were apparently ignited by a torpedo heater near the construction shed on the roof of that building. The plywood ignited and was burning pretty good. There was a lot of smoke coming from the top of that building, as well as flames. It took the fire department a short time to be able to get water up to the roof of that building. They were, however, able to find a sand pipe at the bottom and just in a matter of minutes they were able to bring water up to the top and once they had the water on the roof, they were able to extinguish the flames within about a minute or so. It was very smoky, though, in part because there's a tremendous amount of wind.

A fire on the top floor of a building under construction in the Loop was extinguished by Chicago firefighters Friday night. The fire broke out on the top floor of a 27-floor high-rise building under construction at the intersection of North State Street and West Lake Street about 9:45 p.m. Friday.....Nobody was in the building when the fire started, and there were no injuries reported.....(P)reliminary indications are that temporary heating set fire to roofing materials on the top floor.....
