This would have been such a magnificent tower.

What's the parking situation like in Chicago? You would think they would have at least completed the garage part and gotten some income from the building in the meantime. Maybe some retail on the ground floor. I can think of at least two towers in Baltimore where they did the garage first and then completed the rest later. One of them was 10 years later.

The exterior design sounds pretty cool. The belt-truss will be expressed and the glassy tower will bow and taper above that, filling the whole footprint with a single volume and not continuing the Teng concept of the two volume "highback chair" design.

This tower can't be abandonned. Like I_Am_Hydrogen has said, there is a solution. Chicago can't leave it like that so it will be rebuilt for another project. Impossible to leave it like that !

A monument to human greed. Luckily it's hidden between others so it doesn't stick out too much

The solution is to tear down the Waterview hulk, pulverize the material, barge it up river to the Chicago Spire site and use it to fill that hole.

Daley should pull a "Meigs Field" caper and get this done. The Spire site, combined with the current DuSable Park land, will make a nice green space/future casino. The Waterview site could be home to a much-needed surface parking lot. The costs can be easily recovered by shortening yellow traffic light duration throughout the city to 1.5 seconds.

The site was a surface parking lot once, and will not become one again. Surface parking lots are not needed anymore on the Loop. They are a waste of space in any CBD. Otherwise, the lots can be prime development sites for new skyscrapers. Why don't we get the tower a new design, make it a 60 floor residential tower, and get this completed under that design?

The last thing in the world Chicago or any city wants in their CBD is a surface parking lot. Which contributes more to your tax base, a commercial, retail, or residential building, OR parking?
