It's kind of a dud, isn't it? But I'll be glad to see what had been an embarrassing high-visibility failure for several years completed into a decent filler tower.

As bad as this was with a concrete hulk sitting idle on a prime river lot for 5 years, can you imagine what an eyesore the city would have been stuck with if the Chicago Spire had risen to 20 or 30 floors before they pulled the plug? Every skyline photo for the next decade would have been ruined.

Its definitely better than an eyesore it previously was, a good gap-filler. But this location absolutely needs someting more than just a gap filler.

That glass looks so good. Great addition to this block.

That glass is just glistening. Although I hope they realize the window placement error at the 'cut' section.

The glass facade looks apt. But still - the overall design sucks so darned hard compared to the original.

I'd love to see that slender Waterview Tower rise elsewhere:

My thoughts, exactly. That curtainwall has a real "cheap" look about it. The glass distortion is terrible.

I wonder what became of the original facade for Waterview? It was supposedly complete, sent in from China, and being stored in a warehouse somewhere in the suburbs. I'm pretty sure it was not part of the deal when Related bought the property.

I would to. A lot of people seemed not to like it but I think it would have been really interesting and cool looking building.

Still, what has become of the building now is at least an adequate addition to the skyscraper wall along the river.

Now someday I just hope to see the Renaissance demolished and build another 600-650ft. ish' to complete the southern wall.
