I'm not really criticizing Tirana here, I'm just adressing the problems as I'm very familiar with them as Skopje has suffered the same faith, altough on a much lower scale.....
The french Masterplan is the first phase of the city's overall Urban Development Strategy.
The points you are indicating to refer to the total urban planning of the city, including its boroughs.
That's the second phase of the masterplan which is being projected by a number of selected architectual firms, one of which is MVRDV.
This second phase of the masterplan is expcted to be finalised as early as this spring.

Djurob!
katnar and malok means people who live in the mountain and in the village. and many of them have moved to tirana, but this guy saimir was discriminating against them like he is better than them. And I told him that they are no different than him. And its not just criminals and drug dealers who drive mercedes in albania, there are people who make the money with their own sweat. who was even talking about role models. First read the posts carefully than answer.

Katnar = Peasant (derogatory term)
Malok = Mountain person (derogatory term)

Home Sweet Home. Yup this is where I grew up and this is where you will find me most of the times when I'm in Albania. I am usually at the Bar Qofte near Kinema Dajti drinking Raki and eating qofte .

Also in the pic you can see Bogova Restaurant. THey make some of the best pizzas. Not even in Italy you can find such delicious pizza.

you should read carefully too... I said 99.9% are criminals... so it's 0.1% that are the people who sweat and buy a mercedes... that is a balkan reality and Albania is not an exeption....

I agree that generalization is bad and it is bad to say that katnars and maloks are all bad.... but it is a fact that the Balkan is such a nasty place because katnars and maloks have too much space and power.... again, this is a problem of all of us not just Albania.... competent people don't have jobs.... but U see a katnar or a malok sitting in the Ministries.... and then they buy a mercedes... and everyone wants to be like them.... and that's when they become a role model... Young people see that, and they want to be like tham.... not the hard way, but the easy way.... Someone busts his balls to finish university, and earn some clean money.... and still has to pay for years to buy a fucking Fiat Punto or something... and he waits for the lights to turn green on some street in Tirana... and sees a malok stoping with the new mercedes next to him.... the system of values is completely upside down my friend... ignoring that won't help we have to face and address these problems.......

Not even in Italy?
Italy actually has the worst pizza you can buy...the one I got in Bari was nothing more than a piece of dought with some tomate sauce & oregano..barely any cheese or meat.

Impressive street...I like such tree-lined, pedestrian-friendly streets.

thats exactly what i was thinkin about the streets, the trees overlooking the road. It's just better in the spring and summer

and djurob, ye you're right about what you say. But criminals all over the world rise higher than the people that actually work, what do you think america is better? I mean, obviously there's going to be people that make 100 G a year and atheletes and enterteiners etc that can afford the new cars. But i know that my father cant afford the newest mercedes and since we came to america i've seen him work over 18 hours a day, no exageration for long periods of time. Last year, he used to wake up one hour before i went to school, and came home 2 hours after i slept, and it;s been like this for about 4-5 months now as well. Why is that, cause he needs to put 2 kids through college and so on....and i know i wenta lil off topic, but my point is that he busts his a$$ and in the end of the day, we dont have enough money to visit Albania every summer, even 2 summers it's a lil difficult. BUT, you got criminals, 18 year old kids doing drugs who drive cars that are worth more than everything in my house, AND my car together. That's reality in America as well, even most rappers are involved with crime etc before finding rap. But in the balkans the problem is emphasized a little more, cuase it's been a hot zone for crime throughout the years. Eventually it WILL become better and people there will be living like kings, just give it time. I understand that facing the truth is important, but you can't completely face the truth about life there, because we need to be a bit optimistic for our future.

I hope for the best in all the balkans, cause the only reason that we're the sh*thole we are today, is because of western media and influence!

Albaniangigi generally I agree with you.... but there is still no comparasion... if you work hard and educate in USA or any other normal country, you sucess is guaranteed.... on the Balkans it is not a guarantee..... but it is a guranatee that you'll have a high position let's say if U fight for the KLA... I can see it from Macedonia... the KLA here was granted amnesty and they formed a political party and entered the parliament... some of them are OK and educated..... but some of them are pure 100% katnars and maloks.... and they work as representatives of the Albanian people and spread a wrong picture of them, while very smart and educated Albanians sit aside and do some regular job.... Same with Macedonians.... The Mayor in one of the Skopje suburban rural municipalities is a former loand shark.... I know this cause he completely screwed up a friend of mine.... he is a true criminal, and he also deals with luxtury car theft.... the community were he comes from is 100% katnar and they elect him as a fucking mayor.... it just pisses U off doesn't it?

and as for your last statement... I don't blame the western media or westerners for anything... I blame the balkanians for being a bunch of sheeps who can be easily manipulated and pushed around.... As a region, we lack integrity, vision and the conciusness for creating a sustainable prosperous environments based on a real system of values.... and that is the only reason why we are where we are.....

well let me ask you one question, the same thing applies to america as well for politics. I mean, really how could George W. Bush end up as president, and he had a c+ average in college. How did he even GO to college? lol

I still don't think there is comparising my friend... Bush is a nutcase no doubt... but he is still educated enough.... And he is not a king, he runs the country with many many advisors, strategs and professional staff....

On the contrary on the Balkans you have concentrated power in few people... and you have whole sets of politicians, administrative workers etc etc... who are real butheads....

I'm not talking out of my ass, I've lived in USA too.... the shithole of Perryton, TX where I spent most of the time and which is in the middle of nowhere had better organisation, efficiency and ethics than the Macedonian government itself....
