New York City : 10 Barclay Street, Proposed Height: 800 ft (?), 60-story rental

Yet another skyscraper going up in the WTC vicinity !!

Location: 10 Barclay Street, New York City

Proposed Height: 800 ft (?), 60-story rental
Construction started in January of 2004
Completion scheduled around winter 2007
Architect: Costas Kondylis

The residential building at 10 Barclay Street will rise next to and west of the Transportation Building at 225 Broadway, a 44-story building favored by law offices, and around the landmarked St. Peter's Church, the oldest Catholic Church in the city.

The new tower is being designed by Costas Kondylis. (responsible for The Trump World Tower)

Rendering...

It will have 381 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. Nineteen of the apartments would be affordable, to comply with conditions for $138 million in Liberty Bond financing from the state's Housing Finance Agency.

The entire project, which will cost $184.9 million, will also include 19,271 square feet of community facility space, a health club for residents and a 75-car garage.

Actual Height: 584 feet.

And the building is hideous. I wouldn't brag about it and start a thread for the world to see.

I don't really like the design, looks kinda boring and even ugly... I hope it won't ruin the views of Woolworth Building too much.

This project isn't new to me either, though I feel that it could have been better.

The height is satisfied, but the design! I cant believe it's Costas Kondylis's work.

Gosh, we can basically see what the tower will look like but it's not the clearest render (excuse me Carlito - it's understood it was the grainy source material, not your scan), so how do we really know if it is a good design or not.

It will depend on what materials are used for cladding etc. Time will tell.

Thanks as always mate!
