I love this project !!

And about the Hurricanes,
I even heard that its geographical position is immune to hurricanes, I dont know if Panama is completely hurricane proof. But Ive never heard of Panama getting a direct hit by a category 1 hurricane.

I am really curious about a couple of things.
In Vancouver the building code stipulates new buildings must withstand a Richter 7.0 earthquake. My atlas shows the entire west coast of central america as a high frequency quake zone. Any code requirements in PC?
The other is the tremendous and incredible highrise boom that PC is experiencing. In my city Jacksonville, Florida, very little is happening. In your opinion what is driving the boom. Are the prices of units or construction costs low compared to the USA? Are property taxes low, attracting alot of retirees? Is it natives or foreigners that are buying most of the units in these luxury scrapers? In Dubai, cheap government land and free government money is driving the boom, but, I can't figure out Panama. Any thoughts?

well almost everything is cheaper in PC than in the US for constructing a highrises, also in PC you pay no taxes for 20 years when you buy land or property. PC's boom is focusing mostly on attracting foreign retierees on purchusing low cost water front properties that for example would cost triple the price or more in the US ((there are also plenty of sales and projects for regular panameinien people))

Panama is growing very fast commercialy too, thanks to its Canal, Dollar currency, diverse population , a place where invesments are very well treated ,weather, tourisim,, its natural setting and for many other things Panama is booming BIG for its size .

I dont know about the construction requierments, but many of the tall towers in Panama have post-tensing structure to help withstand earthquakes, but till today ive never heard of a serious earthquake to strike Panama city.

And dont worry about the super talls in PC they will surely be built to with stand these unwanted quakes.

DrT, the boom is happening because of a combination of factors, including low taxes, incentives from the goverment to investors, the panama canal, the geographic location of the country, the city's lack of natural disasters, the existing infrastructure, the economy and trade, the use of the dollar as national currency, ad campaigns promoting the city,etc.. A lot of tourists and foreigns are being attracted to these projects, but the apartments are also affordable enough for middle and upper class panamanians aswell.

A lot of people weren't aware that a world-class city existed in central america and now they're finding out and moving there, Panama is said to be one of the current hotspots and it's getting a lot of attention, similar to what Costa Rica experienced in past years, campaigns and projects are being pushed to make the city more well-known around the globe and establish it as a major destination in latin america.

Are the prices of units or construction costs low compared to the USA?

Answer: Yes, definitely!!!

Are property taxes low, attracting alot of retirees?

Answer: That´s right! you won´t pay taxes for 20 years!!! (ridiculous taxes compared w/ what you would pay in USA for the same luxury & services).

Is it natives or foreigners that are buying most of the units in these luxury scrapers?

Answer: Both, but foreigners are the main "market" for those mega-residential-skyscrapers (with more than 100 stories, 5 star hotel, casino, restaurants, heliport, etc)

Adding another important fact, is the high safety you´ll find in Panama City! (to what Chino_Waro and No Change No Future has said)

Thanks Chino waro, No Change No future and Menandro! Your insights were very
helpful.
No taxes for 20 years! Haleluyah! Sound of freedom to me! PC rocks!
I will definitely consider PC for a unit in one of these amazing projects. Paying sky high property taxes here in the US and getting nothing in return rubs me the wrong way. You will probably see a giant wave of retiring boomers from the states come to PC to enjoy your low taxes, good weather and friendly people and maybe even young tech savy yuppies that can telecommute, work from home or start businesses there.
I predict the boom will continue!
